Supergirl season four is just weeks away and The CW has now released a full gallery of photos from the premiere. These put the spotlight on plenty of new and returning faces, including Nia Nal (a.k.a. Dreamer) and the villainous Mercy Graves. After a solid third year which pitted the Girl of Steel against Reign, the show is on the rise, especially with Superman returning during this year's crossover.

There's a lot of good stuff in this gallery but the highlight may be our first look at Nia, a character who will become the first transgender superhero in any comic book adaptation. Mercy looks very formidable too, though, so to check these images out, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below. Once you're done, be sure to head to the comments section to share your thoughts.

SUPERGIRL

It's thought that Lena Luthor will undergo something of a villainous transformation during this season of Supergirl as Kara Danvers' one-time friend starts heading down a similar path to her brother.

SUPERGIRL

James Olsen has never really found a place in this series and it's kind of surprising to see that he's still around, especially after that whole Guardian vigilant subplot fizzed out quite quickly last year.

SUPERGIRL

This year, it appears as if the focus will be on him growing closer with Lena but would it not have been a better idea to have him just be portrayed as a photographer who helps Kara out on her adventures?

SUPERGIRL

Kara Danvers is a full-fledged reporter these days and she's looking rather thoughtful in this shot. Spoiler alert: there's no sign of her sister Alex throughout the rest of this gallery of premiere images!

SUPERGIRL

Nicole Maines is set to make history as Nia Nal as she will be the first transgender superhero seen in a live-action superhero adaptation of any sort. In the comics, she's best known as Dreamer.

SUPERGIRL

While she'll be posing as a reporter during the first half of the season, it's been confirmed that we will indeed see her suit up and that's bound to get a large portion of the show's fanbase happy!

SUPERGIRL

A relatively obscure character from the comic books, it's hard to say just how closely Supergirl will stick to the source material when it comes to portraying the hero but they have plenty of wiggle room.

SUPERGIRL

It appears as if Kara will strike up a friendship of sorts with her new co-worker as the series goes on and it's definitely a good move to see a transgender character embraced this way right off the bat.

SUPERGIRL

For a while, it appeared as if Melissa Benoist would be one and done when it came to how many seasons she would play the Girl of Steel for but The CW thankfully stepped in to save her back in 2016.

SUPERGIRL

One character The CW is keeping under wraps, for now, is Sam Witwer's, Agent Liberty. Another character who may end up veering from the comics, don't be surprised if we get a suit reveal soon.

SUPERGIRL

Don't worry, there are shots of Kara Danvers suited up as Supergirl coming! The hero will soon have some company in the female superhero department as Batwoman will be introduced in the crossover.

Here, we have a first look at Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves and Robert Baker as her brother Otis Graves. The signs are pointing to them being the show's big bads this year and they look formidable.

At the end of season three, we learned that Kara Danvers has a doppelganger but that's a plot point which will reportedly play out over the course of this year so don't expect any big reveals early on.

Martian Manhunter continues to play a pivotal role in this series and while we don't know a huge amount about his season four story arc, the hero can be seen here interacting with a fellow alien.

@DCFilmJunkie - Only suit from any lead that still hasn't changed yet. It's near perfect.

This show isn't the best but i can be, so I hope they tighten up certain storylines and characters.

I'm curious as to how they'll handle the transgender character; will they do it subtly as to not make her character simply a tool for "being progressive"? Or will they make her characterization shallow and stuff it in our face and make as many conservatives as angry as possible?

Only time will tell👀

Rhona Mitra is still a damn fine looking woman.

OT, but has anyone watched The Dragon Prince on Netflix? It's class.

@RorMachine - I am, it's pretty good and like the characters. Six episodes left.

They can do this for 5 more years with each book/Season being based on one of the elemental foundations.

Currently watching Season 3. I like this show better than Flash. Great stories, characters, drama, action, acting, etc. Melissa Benoist IS Supergirl. It's not perfect though. They really screw up big time with the lore sometimes. The Legion of Superheroes and Reign could have been so much more. Also, the agenda pushing is so bad to the point were it actually created a plot hole. In episode 3, Maggie's father says that America is building a wall. This makes absolutely no sense, considering that the president is an real alien refugee herself who pushes for human/alien coexistence. The writers were so set on taking a jab at Trump's presidency, that they forgot their own story. I think this mistake was brought to their attention, and they've definitely toned it down since.

If they ever make a Detroit: Become Human movie, and don't get the same actors from the game for whatever reason, Melissa needs to play Kara.

Most of my interest right now is on how Kara will handle her second pupil. I've looked up a bit of Nia's powers in the comics and she could be pretty fearsome, but most importantly if she is really going to turn out to be an ancestor of a future Legionnaire, Nura Nal who has the same powers. That character was also called Dreamer at some point.

And how Nia will factor when they enter the Red Daughter story. Also heard that she already tried her costume, hopefully it isn't a one year wait like it was with Mon-El.

Gonna be tough to follow up Season 3 but I am remaining optimistic. I wanna see more of Brainiac 5 too.

Mercy Graves and her brother, Lilian Luthor, etc. One day they might just get the greenlit to introduce Lex as well.

Can't wait.

I hope they let Jimmy and Lena stay together as well.

Curious about what J'onn will be doing. Maybe go back to his comic book roots and do some private detective work, hence the "manhunter" in his name. Not like how Ralph does it but you get what I mean.

Lena Luthor becoming a villain like her brother? Further proof from the producers will be needed.

Otis and Mercy are siblings! Awesome idea. Even though last year's dumpster fire has pretty much run me away from this show. So far it's sounding like they're repeating the same mistakes.

I hope Lena doesnt become a villain like Lex. I much prefer her as a friend to Supergirl. Having her go the villain route is too cliche and seems like lazy writing.
