SUPERGIRL Sets Final Season Premiere Date As SUPERMAN & LOIS Heads Into Mini-Hiatus This Month

The good news is that The CW has officially set a final season premiere date for Supergirl, but the bad news is that Superman & Lois will be heading into a mini-hiatus through the Spring...

Due to their coronavirus-induced production shutdown late last year, Superman & Lois will be taking an extended hiatus in a few weeks, after the airing of episode five. The runaway smash hit will be back on May 18 with its remaining batch of ten episodes.

On the bright side, Melissa Benoist will soon be back on your small screens as The CW has officially announced that the sixth and final season of Supergirl will debut on Tuesday, March 30 in the same timeslot as a midseason replacement for its Kryptonian sister series.

It will air at least six or seven episodes before going on its own hiatus and returning later in the summer, after Superman & Lois wraps its inaugural season, with its final batch of episodes. This seemingly suggests that the Supergirl series finale will air sometime in the late Summer or early Fall, barring any unforeseen developments.

No poster, stills, or trailer just yet, but expect the network to begin ramping up their promotional efforts in the coming week as fans gear up to bid farewell to Benoist's fan-favorite portrayal of the Girl of Steel.

After years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world's most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books' most famous journalist, Lois Lane, come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever - dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan and Jordan could inherit their father's Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang, a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark's first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing. The adults aren't the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle's rebellious daughter, Sarah. Of course, there's never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois' father, General Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois' return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger enters their lives.[src]

Superman & Lois returns with a brand new episode on March 9

Wonder if Diggle's appearences on all the shows will have some kind of consistent plot for him. If it does, could be a good replacement for the crossover this year. Too bad he isnt going to be on Black Lightning.

Yeah I made the same count of the amount of episodes each would air in the following weeks. But I thought Superman & Lois had around at least 18 episodes, not just 15. I'm gonna have to look up that info again.

First and only time ever Supergirl will air in the same day as Flash too. And yes, the first 7 episodes of S6 will be aired.

I bet on Monday they'll release a trailer with info and a poster.

Hoping for Supergirl we get this kind of ending

Good way to take Supergirl off the board without killing her right after Oliver and would give her a big send off without the need of a crossover

I only watched about 1/3 of the first season of Supergirl. Worth getting back into?

@MrDandy - Gets much better in season 2 and continues to get better for a while, now its kind of at a consistent level of quality, although not it at its best.

@SodaBurps - First season is weak with a few stand outs, but gets better and better from season 2 to 4, season 5 is good but not as good as 4

@dracula - What a waste of potential. He is one of my top five favorite DC heroes.

I remember back in the day when a series would give you 20 to 30 some episodes, if not more, without the so-called hiatus shows seem to thrive on these days. Never thought these breaks were necessary and really wish it would stop. Realistically I know that is never going to happen unfortunately.
