Superman's Mother 'Lara-Van El' To Appear In SUPERGIRL Pilot

Actress Ana Franchesca Rousseau has joined the cast of Supergirl as the birth mother of Kal-El/Superman. Does this indicate that the Man of Steel himself will appear in the show, hit the jump to find out!

Supergirl.TV are reporting that the biological mother of Superman, 'Lara-Van El' will appear in the upcoming CBS pilot. The actress will appear in a few minutes in of the pilot where scenes on Krypton will be take place. Whether or not Superman will appear on the show is uncertain but the website is reporting that an infant version of Kal-El will be on the show. This is a good indication that the character could appear in some capacity in the present day world of Supergirl. Melissa Benoist will star as the titular superhero on the CBS pilot which will recieve the go ahead or not at the upcoming network upfronts.
The Supergirl pilot centers on Kara Zor-El, who was born on Krypton, and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to be careful with the extraordinary powers that she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. The pilot stars Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, Calista Flockhar, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan, David Harewood, and Laura Benanti with Faran Tahir.

This doesn't seem like a show I can see myself watching, especially since my comic book television is primarily Marvel focused. I hope the fans do enjoy it, though.

"Wow. Already the cast is better than the entirety of the Snyderverse. In addition to the costume being better than MOS & BVS.

Too bad about Jamal Olsen and Toyman but other than that I'm looking forward to this show.


Hope they give us a Superman and one who's in his real suit and doesn't look like Freddie Mercury this time."
