SUPERMAN & LOIS: New CWVerse Superheroes Highlight Reel Teases Clark Kent's Return To Smallville

While it's not exactly a trailer, The CW has released a new highlight reel for its CWVerse superheroes, which offers our first brief tease of the newest live-action DC series, Superman & Lois!

While it's not entirely clear when filming will be able to resume on the first season of Superman & Lois, The CW has now released a new CWVerse Superheroes highlight reel, spotlighting all of their live-action DC shows and offering a small tease of what's to come when Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) returns to Smallville.

There really isn't anything in terms of footage, but we do get some new dialogue and potential theme music mixed in with recycled shots from Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch's (Lois Lane) appearances during the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" and "Elseworlds" crossover events.

As for the rest of the reel, it covers ArrowThe Flash, DC’s Stargirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Supergirl, but again, The CW doesn't mention Green Arrow and the Canaries, which might be an early indicator that they may have opted not to move forward with the spinoff.

In SUPERMAN & LOIS, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world's most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin, "Teen Wolf") and comic books' most famous journalist, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch, "Grimm"), come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever - dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass, "Little Fires Everywhere") and Jordan (Alexander Garfin, "The Peanuts Movie") could inherit their father's Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui, "Entourage"), a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark's first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez, "Graceland"). The adults aren't the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle's rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarrette, "Wander Darkly"). Of course, there's never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois' father, General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh, "Nip/Tuck") looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois' return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks, "All American") enters their lives. Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERMAN & LOIS is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing ("The Flash") and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns. The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Superman & Lois premieres January 2021

I genuinely think this is a good premise for a Superman show. Was hoping they'd fix his costume though.

I'd be lost if I tried to get into this (quit watching Supergirl before the Tyler Hoechlin debuted).

Can anyone recommend Supergirl, is it worth getting back into?

@GothamSon -
If you didn't like it at first, you probably won't like it now. It's standard CW schlock, but occasionally it has it's moments.

Really, as far as Supergirl goes, I can only recommend the crossovers and the Lex Luthor episodes of Season 4.

@GothamSon - yes it is, the show improved each year season 4 was possibly the best arrowverse season of that year, season 5 wasnt as good but still good

@dracula -
Honestly, I think the CW went downhill after the first two seasons of Flash and Arrow. After that, everything ranges from unwatchable (Batwoman) to "turn your brain off" entertainment (Legends) and occasionally a gem (Arrow Season 5, parts of 6-8).

Cant wait, now that Brian Michael Bendis ruined Jon Kent and complicated his relationship with Lois in the comics, will be nice to have a show resembling that rebirth era.

For sure thing the big bad is Alexander Luther from earth 3

Hope we eventually get Brianiac and Zod

@dracula - i still dont get the logic there. I get that they want to go a different direction than supergirl, who faces more atypical superman threats. So using the multiverse can make for some interesting challenges. But really? Just another lex luther? Its just lazy, and comes across as a reaction since supergirl already used the main superman.

@dracula - As well as making Mon-El all of a sudden be Jon's great great ad nauseum grandchild. He should always be a Daxamite.

Pretty excited for what kinds of foes the Superman Family will face too.
