Superman & Lois has previously revealed that the Nazi villain Atom Man (or Atoman) was the first big bad Kal-El faced as Metropolis' Man of Steel. Now, though, it's looking like he'll make his return in the show's upcoming third season.

As you can see below, the supervillain was spotted battling Superman on set in an episode that's being directed by The Flash star Tom Cavanagh. We're assuming this is the same version of Atom Man we've already met, and that he's once again set out on a mission to attack and destroy Metropolis' multicultural neighbourhoods.

Lots of big changes are coming to Superman & Lois as the series enters its third year on The CW. We recently learned that Jonathan Kent actor Jordan Elsass has decided to leave the show, with Michael Bishop set to take over from him.

Season 2, meanwhile, established that this story takes place in its own reality separate from the Arrowverse. That means team-ups are off the table, though with The Flash nearing its end, there will soon be nothing left for Superman & Lois to actually crossover with!

As you may have also noticed below, Tyler Hoechlin's Superman has a new costume!

The blue is a little darker and deeper than before, while the emblem is now attached to the suit rather than just part of it. As expected, that resembles the logo for the series and gives this costume a big-budget feel. With big screen plans for Superman still up in the air, we'll take what we can get, and Superman & Lois has definitely delivered a great take on this character thus far.

No more Superman returns cape tucked into a T-shirt look is a massive win. Also like that the \S/ no longer looks like a weird sticker

Massive improvement. In season 2, he looked like a triangle. Also, season 2 sucked donkey balls.

@DenvertheDino - I liked the family dynamic and bizarro/ bizarro world stuff in season 2

@noahthegrand - There were a few things that had potential, but I thought they were handled very poorly culminating in a terrible season finale.

@DenvertheDino - I definitely gotta agree with you on season 2 & how it did indeed suck donkey balls. After such a strong first season was hoping for more of the same but it’s slowly becoming more “CW”ish. The best part about the show was it didn’t feel like that so I hope they steer it back on into its own lane

Looked like they toned down the padding a bit which is good, but the suit somehow looks Cheapers aswell. Ah well. Hopefully season 3 is better than the second.

@UniqNo - I think it's the airbrushing around all the muscles and the crest, looks ridiculous.

@UniqNo - Hopefully its lit well, his muscle tone looks too airbrush on the suit. I wished they would have removed it and kept it like reeves or routh's suit because it doesn't match his real physique.

@Spagett @mastakilla39 - Yeah I thi nk that's it!

Yeah I don't know why they need to put all the muscle impressions on the suit. We know the guy is ripped. He just give him a couple shirtless scenes to please the ladies showing that he's actually physically putting in the work.

for me the airbrushing is an issues the guy is ripped it should only be subtle and dark blue hights or black would have been better if he really needed it and that tucked in cape needs to be changed clipped on would be better then ho could use without the cape if he so wished.

Love that the shield is much bigger this time this is definitely Tyler's best suit so far. While season 2 was definitely a noticeable step down from an almost flawless season 1 I still enjoyed season 2 they just really only need to remember to dial back on the Cushings.

I like it. Looks pretty awesome.

I don't know if it's the color scheme, the boots, or what, but this FEELS like the most "Superman' version of the costume we've had... to me at least.

I really like it.

Love that it doesnt look like a cape tucked into a t-shirt (that always bothered me abt Superman returns) but why not add the yellow S shield to the cape. Its such an amazing design and I see most properties, barring the comics ignore it. Without the yellow S its just a red cape.

I actually really enjoy this show. Season 2 was underwhelming for sure, especially since they wasted a good interpretation of Bizarro. But I`m hopeful that season 3 can be better. It feels like they`re listening to their fans, at least in terms of the suit, so I`ll keep on hoping.

The overall design is a MASSIVE improvement. I just wish it didn't look like a padded Halloween costume on Hoechlin. Dude needs to bulk up.

It's still too bulky, but that hasn't stopped me from watching the first two seasons.
