The CW has released a new teaser for Superman & Lois season 3, confirming the series returns on March 14. We catch up with the Kent family in this sneak peek, and learn that Lois Lane has gone missing, presumably after being kidnapped by the show's latest big bad.

One particularly cool visual showcases The Daily Planet's destruction, a shocking visual and one that may or may not be part of some sort of dream sequence.

We're sure even more from the series will be revealed in the coming weeks, but this preview definitely shows more of what fans love about the small screen Man of Steel. Tyler Hoechlin is unlikely to get a shot at playing Superman in James Gunn's planned movie, though he's had a pretty good run since first debuting in Supergirl.

Season 3 of Superman & Lois opens weeks after Superman's blowout defeat of Ally Allston with Clark (Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) now working at the Smallville Gazette together and enjoying small-town life. However, the Kents' romantic bliss only shines a light on how isolating "the secret" can be, as Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) struggles to balance a new love interest and her friendship with Lois.

Lois' own work-life balance is put to the test when an undercover assignment reveals a deadly foe that promises to change the Kent family forever, and while Superman would move heaven and earth for his family, with a villain this merciless, even that might not be enough.

Elsewhere, the Kent boys find themselves being pulled in opposite directions as Jordan (Alex Garfin) discovers what a superhero identity really means and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) searches for a purpose beyond the football field.

There's been a lot of speculation that season 3 will be the show's last, especially with The CW seemingly preparing to wind down its scripted offerings. However, with Superman & Lois airing alongside Gotham Knights, the network may well reconsider if they're a ratings draw...unless DC Studios plans to pull the plug on them!

Superman & Lois returns to The CW on March 14.

I can’t seem to get into this show and I don’t think it’s for me, but now it’s the best CW Superhero show left.

That’s not saying much, but they successfully pulled a Bradbury

@TheHumanSpider2 - I wouldn't bet against that feeling considering all the turmoil going on at the studio, but we shall see.

This season description is why I won't be watching and why I gave up early in season 2. I liked season 1 for the most part. I like Superman but don't care about this CW Lois and her work relationships or his kids and their high-school and family drama. Nothing in there was actually about Superman, it's all about Clark dealing with others drama. I've loved every adaption of Lois since George Reeves Superman and the old radio shows, including all the animated stuff, but this one on the CW is terrible IMHO. The actor was terrible on Grimm too.
