SUPERMAN & LOIS Ups [SPOILER] To Series Regular For Season 2 After Cliffhanger Ending

Following a victory celebration, Superman & Lois brought its freshman season to a close with a major cliffhanger as an unexpected arrival has suddenly turned both the Kent and Irons families upside down.

Hot on the heels of last night's big cliffhanger ending, TV Line has learned that Tayler Buck (Annabelle: CreationThe People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story) has officially been upped to series regular status for Superman & Lois season two.

The move shouldn't come as a major surprise considering the finale's closing moments saw Natalie Irons (Buck) crash-land on Earth-Prime, reuniting with her father (Wolé Parks) and setting the stage for some heavy drama in the show's sophomore outing as she laid her eyes on the doppelgänger of her tragically murdered mother (Elizabeth Tulloch).

Her character Natalie is actually based on Natasha Irons from the comics, a DC Comics heroine who operated as the fifth Steel, and also used the codenames Starlight and Vaporlock. With Buck onboard, it seems like the show may be building to her eventually joining the fight alongside John Henry and the Kents.

Buck is the second new series regular for next year, joining Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo).

They'll join returning stars Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent/Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Jordan Elsass (Jonathan Kent), Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cushing), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Adam Rayner (Tal-Rho), Dylan Walsh (General Sam Lane), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang Cushing).

Superman & Lois will return for season two at midseason 2022.

Sweet, excited to see where the Irons storyline goes, and to learn how she made it to this Earth.

Man, what a great season and a really strong finale. Best superhero show of 2021. Everyone was really great, but right now I think that the 3 MVPs of the show were Tyler Hoechlin, Wole Park, and Adam Rayner.

On par with Daredevil

@dracula - I’m sorry, but WHAT?!
Look, I’m glad you’re liking the show. I’m just glad Superman is staying relevant by being on the screen.

But NO. This is nowhere close to Daredevil level. This is a CW show with a better production quality and overt Snyder/ManOfSteel aesthetic, but a CW show nonetheless.

Please refrain from making such statements lmao

@dracula - I don't think its quite on par with Daredevil. But, if season 1 is anything to go by, this show could very well be one of those rare tier 1 comic book shows, with Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD.

@GetsugaTensho22 - There is a lot more than just production value that separate it from most of the other CW shows. Also much better written

@GetsugaTensho22 - yep. This show is good, writing and performances were far better than what the CW has become accustomed to, but it's no Daredevil.

The finale specially with the excessive emphasis on family, memories, the sudden appearance of a weapon that can defeat the villain, it fell victim to the usual CW capeshit tropes.

Daredevil was more original with it's stories.

Daredevil season 1, perhaps. After that, nah.

Performances aside I found this episode to be the weakest of a stellar season. I think the best part of the episode was Clark having to say goodbye to Jor-El.

On Another Topic :

Just watched the first episode of What If....

Animation looked great, especially during action scenes and as well as quiet scenes, although talking scenes could have been better.

Kind of think Peggy felt a bit out of character in some scenes. Seemed a lot more no nonsense before.

Big problem is condencing a movie into 1 episode

@dracula - Just wait until you see the 2nd episode. It really leaves the first in the dust.
dracula
dracula - 8/19/2021, 11:18 AM
@Mugens - much better, probably because yeah, first episode changed a moment and tried telling the same story.

Episode 2 completely changes the backstory, leading to a new story. Also Guardians is already a comedy, so characters acting a bit goofy isnt out of place

Inserting a story line where Lois deals with losing a child during pregnancy on paper sounds so eye rollingly CW and mega forced... but honestly, Lois and Johnathan dealing with the emotional weight of learning about her through John Henry and the videos.... its actually one of the most compelling arcs on this show. I'm actually stoked by this development as I think this is a compelling angle to explore for every character involved. I kinda want the Kent's and Irons to be one big happy family but I know it can't last.

@ElricReturns - I mean, at the end of the day this show is about family and miscarriage's are more common than you'd think. People just dont talk about them because of the emotional toll they take on you (speaking from experience with my friends IRL). I dont watch much CW nowadays aside from Arrowverse shows but I dont see this as a subject that is even brought up much on the network.

It makes sense that they laid this ground work and now are bringing in the daughter that she was kind of supposed to have. Now she has to deal with that next season. It's such a smart way to bring a sci-fi element while still grounding it in reality.

I had a chance to see Shang Chi in IMAX tonight at a free early screening and I believe Marvel HAS done it again! This is a movie that leaves me wanting more and with a whole new group of characters to care about. The action is great, the visuals are AMAZING! The fight scenes are awesome, the bus fight is one of my favorites! This movie also does a great job at creating characters that you will care about by the end of the movie. This movie does a great job at continuing to expand on the ever expanding MCU and in doing a deep dive into Asian culture, which is reminiscent of Black Panther. Aqufina is awesome and a definite crowd pleaser! I thoroughly encourage people to go see this MCU movie in theaters! 2 end credit scences that do some great "world building" for the MCU

@Phileo26 - I'm stoked! Glad to see its getting such high praise from a lot of people. As an Asian American, especially since covid, it's nice to see something so prominent coming out that represents us. This will definitely be the first movie I see in theaters since the whole thing started.
