Deadline is reporting that The Flash season eight has cast Tony Curran (Ray Donovan; Blade II; Underworld: Evolution) as the DC Comics supervillain Despero. He will serve as the primary antagonist of the show's upcoming five-part "Armageddon" crossover.
Yesterday, it was announced that the special five-part event would kickstart on November 16 - serving as the show's season premiere - and will feature a wide range of special guest stars from the greater DC Universe, including Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk.
Further details on why the intergalactic evildoer finds himself in Central City remain under wraps, but the network has released a brief character description that says he's "a powerful and intelligent alien possessing incredible telepathic powers who left his homeworld—Kalanor—under mysterious circumstances. Now he’s facing a deadly mission on Earth, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash."
Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Frost), Danielle Nicolet (Cecile Horton), Kayla Compton (Allegra Garcia), Brandon McKnight as Chester P. Runk, and Jesse L. Martin (Joe West) are all slated to return as series regulars.
Carmen Moore (Kristen Kramer), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Nora West-Allen), Jordan Fisher (Bart Allen) and Natalie Dreyfuss (Sue Dearbon) are also expected to guest star throughout the season, but it's uncertain whether any of them will feature in the crossover.
