Deadline is reporting that The Flash season eight has cast Tony Curran (Ray Donovan; Blade IIUnderworld: Evolution) as the DC Comics supervillain Despero. He will serve as the primary antagonist of the show's upcoming five-part "Armageddon" crossover.

Yesterday, it was announced that the special five-part event would kickstart on November 16 - serving as the show's season premiere - and will feature a wide range of special guest stars from the greater DC Universe, including Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen, Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, Tom Cavanagh as Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk.

Further details on why the intergalactic evildoer finds himself in Central City remain under wraps, but the network has released a brief character description that says he's "a powerful and intelligent alien possessing incredible telepathic powers who left his homeworld—Kalanor—under mysterious circumstances. Now he’s facing a deadly mission on Earth, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash."

Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Frost), Danielle Nicolet (Cecile Horton), Kayla Compton (Allegra Garcia), Brandon McKnight as Chester P. Runk, and Jesse L. Martin (Joe West) are all slated to return as series regulars.

Carmen Moore (Kristen Kramer), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Nora West-Allen), Jordan Fisher (Bart Allen) and Natalie Dreyfuss (Sue Dearbon) are also expected to guest star throughout the season, but it's uncertain whether any of them will feature in the crossover.

Couldn’t place this guy until I remembered he played the only memorable character in LXG. He was the invisible man.

@marvel72 - they have nailed a large amount of big bads and cross over villains.

Although yeah after season 7 of Flash, and this being done entirely by that creative team, kind of time to prepare for the worst and hope for the best

Will his daughter Despera show up in this event too?

I'm guessing they'll probably go with pre-'Flame of Pytar' Despero (basically, how he looked back when he debuted in the early 1960s JLA comics.

I haven't watched Flash since the Thinker season. Not because it got bad, just life things getting in the way. I'll watch it for this though.

@Kadara - Yeah that was the last season I watched, it was really good but I just can’t watch 1 million shows anymore. That’s what I like about Disney+, one episode a week I can do

Not a bad choice for a big event like this.

Always thought Despero would appear first in either Supergirl or now on Superman & Lois but this can work as well.

Hope they find the way to make an episode WHERE the heroes take the fight to outer space just like when Oliver and others escaped from a Dominator ship.
