While it remains to be seen whether we get a new episode after next week, the next episode of The Flash is shaping up to be quite the big one as the white hot speedster Godspeed returns to cause all kinds of trouble for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his team.

However, while he initially goes to Pied Piper (Andy Mientus) for help, it looks like the changes to the multiverse may land him in an unexpected pickle with his former enemy-turned friend-turned enemy again. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) begins to plan her escape from the increasingly dangerous Mirrorverse.

"Pay the Piper" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

GODSPEED AND PIED PIPER RETURN - When Godspeed returns, Barry (Grant Gustin) turns to Hartley Rathaway (guest star Andy Mientus) for help. However, things get tense quickly after Barry realizes one of the changes from Crisis is that The Flash and Pied Piper are now enemies. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) tries to escape the Mirrorverse. Amanda Tapping directed the episode written by Jess Carson (#618). Original airdate 5/5/2020.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?

Nice to see Pied Piper again. They really need to form the rogues at some point and give the a full story arc. Supergirl did the elite and arrow did that group of villains in season 6, Legends of tomorrow had 2 villain groups back to back. If they have to recast characters....its fine, Crisis is a fine excuse

@dracula - im more iffy on the rogues as a major threat as we already lost captain cold while the rest dont have someone you'd consider a leader. Pied piper is the closest but hes been there so sporadically and this new post crisis one doesnt seem to have a good reason to be a villain.

@Origame - Wentworth Miller is likely done, and with Crisis...might be time for a new Captain Cold, depending on availability, they could also do new takes on some of the other members or just go with the new rogues, already have a new Mirror Master, a Weather Witch, a second Trickster (dont think hamil is coming back anytime soon). If they can get Michael Rosenbaum for a role, I could see him pulling off Owen Mercer, the speedster Captain Boomerang

If not the classic rogues, then just embrace the new rogues, we have Weather Witch, just introduce the rest of them

you can even keep this new Mirror Mistress if you want

@dracula - It seems like they're going that route. I really hope next season we finally get them.

@TheDoctor1225 - The plot seems to be picking up now. Hopefully it doesn't feel rushed considering they have to put 3 episodes.

Guessing the Caitlin stuff is just to get her off the show until the end of her pregnancy. Considering the cut episodes, I don't expect to see much of her or Joe till next season. Wonder if Jesse L Martin is still having problems, if not wonder why they wrote him out. At least they gave a good reason for him going this time. Last season he left off screen and they didn't even adress it till he came back, that was annoying.

Also
Just finished rewatching Jessica Jones season 1, id say it's slightly below Daredevil season 1

Tonight's episode was a lot better than I expected and made me sad that we wont be getting to finish the season properly. Finally feels like they're managing to make credible threats that arent speedsters now.

But hell yeah I'm excited for Godspeed (hopefully they do him justice this time). Everything seems to be lining up with Rebirth and I'm all for it. Flash War? Rogues? Black Hole? [frick] yeah!

Solid episode. It could have been really good as there were some strong aspects to it, but there were also weaker parts that dragged it down a little at times.

First, the opening of the episode was great, though it did feel like we missed a scene or two leading up to them turning on the artificial speed force. I really enjoyed Barry figuring stuff out with Iris and then confronting her. Was quite surprised to see Bloodwork again, he was very serviceable in the small role here, guessing he will reappear maybe next season for his long game? Surprising was to see Mirror-Kamila go.

Cecile, one of the most useless characters on the Flash. This episodes just further emphasizes this, was really frustrated that she lied to Barry, locked him up, then came to her senses. I thought that there were parts of the final fight between Barry and mirror Iris that were good, but at the same time there were really frustrating moments, though the way mirror Iris went out was cool. And then Eva's "let me confront you, tell you my secrets and let you live" move was kind of stupid tbh.

Also, the Killer Frost side plot was a distraction and I didn't care for it it at all.

So they're finally going to payoff Godspeed... about damn time.

Off-topic, but after giving it some thought--if they ever try to follow in the footsteps of "Dolemite is My Name" and do another biopic of a 70's comedian, I hope it's on Cheech and Chong, and I nominate Carlos Valdes for the role of the young Cheech Marin. Slap a mustache on him, and I tell you, he'd nail it.

@FlixMentallo21 - For Cheech, think a more likely choice is Michael Pena or maybe Wilmer Valderrama

Iris stopped Savitar with a pistol. How will she stop Godspeed?

I stopped watching Flash a while ago, but darn if that Godspeed suit don't look like perfection....

@TheJustinHammer - I mean, I haven't seen it in action. But just from the stills that get posted here, it looks EXACTLY like the source material.
