THE FLASH: Marc Guggenheim Elaborates On How Ezra Miller's CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS Cameo Came To Be

Arguably the coolest moment in Crisis on Infinite Earths came when Ezra Miller showed up as the DCEU's Scarlet Speedster, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim has now talked more about making it happen!

Crisis on Infinite Earths contained a lot of major surprises, but by far the biggest came when Ezra Miller made a cameo appearance as the big screen Flash. It was kept under wraps before airing, and showrunner Marc Guggenheim has already talked about the logistics of making that happen.

In a new interview with Fake Nerd Podcast, the Arrow boss has explained the difficulties of being granted access to the previously off-limits DC Extended Universe.

"There were certain things that we knew were not touchable and the cinematic universe fell into that category," he said. "The nice thing about doing something for years is you're there for all the changes. You're there for the personnel changes, and you're there for the philosophical changes and the changes in policy, and this was one of those situations where people changed their minds."

"I was so glad that they did, even though the change of mind did come after we were wrapped on the whole crossover. So it came very late, but as they say, better late than never."

Asked how it felt to finally get his hands on a superhero from the movies, Guggenheim explains that he was "thrilled" as "the cinematic universe was the one that got away." He added that it was his dream to be able to include the DC Extended Universe in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and revealed that getting Miller to play the Fastest Man Alive was surprisingly straightforward.

"The funny thing is, once we got the approval, it came together almost easier than any other cameo. I mean, certainly, there were other cameos that were a lot harder to pull off, that required a lot more scheduling creativity or financial creativity or logistical creativity, you name it! This sort of all came together really nice." As for Miller, it was "series of phone calls and some time at the keyboard."

Crisis on Infinite Earths wasn't perfect in the eyes of every fan out there, but getting to watch Miller's Flash interact with the one played by Grant Gustin was an undeniable treat.

Ezra would have been a great Knightwing.

When Jessie Eisenbergs name was doin the rounds back when BvS was in pre-production...I honestly thought he was gonna be cast as Flash....which I still think wouldve been a great fit.

@emeraldtaurus - Ezra would have been perfect for Desire from DC's Sandman

I need to watch the last 2 episodes again because I was kind of sick when they were on and am a little hazy on how it all wrapped up. I guess it's just wishful thinking that Miller's Flash got wiped out and no longer exists.

I’m was not a fan of Ezras Flash at all but I never screamed “holy shit” during a tv show so loud in my life until this happened. So glad they managed to keep it a secret.

And I actually became a fan of his Flash after this appearance just because of his willingness to do this for the fans.

This cameo was....meh. The state of the DCU is well....weird and confusing at best. I felt nothing when I saw this tbh

It was an unexpected nod to fans but I just don’t like Miller’s Flash. His acting and the costume aren’t making me interested at all. The tv Flash costume seems so much better and sensible.
