THE FLASH Season 5 Casts AMERICA'S GOT TALENT Contestant Troy James As The Villain Rag Doll

After a character breakdown revealed the villain Rag Doll would make his debut on the fifth season of The Flash, we now know who will bring The Fastest Man Alive's newest enemy to live on the CW series.

Along with the returning cast of heroes, the fifth season of The Flash will see the Scarlet Speedster and his team face off against several new villains, including Peter Merkel, a.k.a. Rag Doll.

We first learned that Rag Doll would have a presence in Season 5 when a character breakdown for the villain surfaced last week, and now the CW show has cast Troy James in the role.

While James is mostly known for his recent appearance on the competition show America's Got Talent, where he showed off his contortionist abilities, he has appeared on programs like Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments and Channel Zero.

Still, considering he doesn't have a lot of acting credits under his belt, he remains an interesting choice for Rag Doll - although it's not the first time a CW show made an interesting casting choice, as Arrow once tapped the wrestler Cody Rhodes to play a villain.

I always liked Ragdoll from The Batman. A really creepy villain.

@Nightwing1015 - Apparently they used him when Scarecrow was deemed off-limits due to his appearance in Batman Begins. Odd choice, considering Ragdoll's origins as a foe of the Jay Garrick Flash.

@FlixMentallo21 - They actually designed Scarecrow before they learned that he was off limits. Such as shame that DC has always had this policy. I'd have loved to see him and Ra's in The Batman.

@Nightwing1015 - I always wanted Two-Face in that show!

@Nightwing1015 - Funnily enough, one of my future crossover fancasts features Ra's--it's one that could've been easily done since the same creative team working on The Batman also did Jackie Chan Adventures. "The Batman And Jackie Chan: The Brave and the Bold". The premise is Ra's breaks Daolon Wong out of prison in order for him to help fix a problem with a Lazarus Pit, with the promise of allowing the elderly sorceror to use it himself.

You should read Gail Simone's Secret Six series. Ragdoll is so f.ucking creepy. When his "buddy" Parademon died, he had him stuffed and put him in his bedroom.

Awesome! He was a real stand out. I was hoping that incase he didn't win that he would be cast in a horror movie or American Horror Story or something.

Unfortunately, you have to have a sob story, be a singer, or be a child to win.

@MasterMix - That's always been why I've never really liked the "Got Talent" shows.

The singers who win are obviously talented, but there are like 7 other shows for singers.

@Philip - But then at the same time, someone who ONLY sings has only won AGT around half the time, so it doesn't mean a singer is guaranteed to win.

@Philip - Exactly you have people displaying genuine diverse talent, yet everyone only cares about singers. All four golden buzzers have been singers. Makes me want to go on the show just to call them out on it.

@GAThrawnIGF - Still, that's too much. Half the time? When there's 7 other shows out there for singers?
Singing is a talent, for sure, and the people who win are talented...but they're not unique.

Awesome. Thought they were gonna go CGI for this character, but it's cool to see them going authentic. As long as this dude can remember his lines, I'm down.

Honestly .. good for HIM!

He was super creepy but I felt bad when he said people at work have started avoiding him and not talking to him etc

He works in HR .. and I think he just hit a Home Run! (Heh heh heh)

When my wife and I watched him we both called he'd have a career in TV/Movies when this is done and we were right.

So .. good for him.

@bigdannymac - what you guys think of his stage presence??
bigdannymac
bigdannymac - 8/23/2018, 8:52 PM
@MrCamw1 - It's funny because .. he's super timid and awkward .. but then the second his "part" starts .. he commands the stage and room. What he does is creepy but he owns it

Really liked him on the show. Thought he was super creepy. With some training, he could be the next Doug Jones. My wife and I both said he’s perfect for Guillermo Del Toro.
