The Flash's final season has begun, and by the time it concludes, the Arrowverse's time will be up. A lot of fans are upset about that, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now and DC Studios has its own ambitious small screen plans.
Both Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman were cancelled by The CW last year, but Javicia Leslie is going to get another chance to play the Caped Crusader...as Red Death. While the actress has been spotted on set as Ryan Wilder, much of her screentime is expected to be as the twisted speedster who, for reasons which aren't currently clear, targets Barry Allen.
On the page, it was a Bruce Wayne from another world who stole the hero's speed so he could better protect Gotham City. That transformed Batman into the twisted Red Death, but showrunner Eric Wallace has already confirmed this version of the villain will be getting a new origin story.
While the character has been spotted on set multiple times, a new behind-the-scenes photo offers our best look yet at Central City's latest evildoer.
Aside from the fact he is now a she, this is a very comic-accurate interpretation of the villain and we're excited to see what Leslie brings to the table after Batwoman's muddled second season. Ruby Rose's departure threw the show into disarray and picking up where she left off was no easy task.
"Barry (Grant Gustin) feels guilty for what happened to Caitlin and Mark (Jon Cor) comes up with a plan which makes everyone skeptical," reads the synopsis for next week's episode. "Meanwhile, Red Death looms in Central City and commands that failure is not an option. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) asks Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) to make a choice which leads Cecile to think about the greater good.
"Allegra (Kayla Compton) and Chester (Brandon McKnight) take a step in a new direction. Lastly, old friends pay an unexpected visit to S.T.A.R. Labs."
