THE FLASH Star Grant Gustin Addresses Fan Complaints About The Lack Of Scarlet Speedster In Season 6

We've seen very little of the Scarlet Speedster in the second half of The Flash Season 6, and Grant Gustin has now addressed the lack of his heroic alter-ego in The CW series. Read on for details...

Following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Speed Force died, and Barry Allen found himself with only a fraction of his super-speed (which is draining away quickly). As a result, we've not really seen much of Grant Gustin suited up as the Scarlet Speedster, and that's disappointed many fans... after all, the show is called The Flash, not "Barry Allen."

Asked about those complaints from fans during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gustin assured them that changes could be coming. "I would say it's safe to say hold out hope that we're gonna figure this thing out. Whether it's an artificial speed force or restoring the speed force -- I've got to imagine that we're gonna figure it out."

Of course, with only one episode left thanks to COVID-19 halting production, it's hard to say whether that will happen as part of season six. Either way, Gustin has been enjoying spending time out of his super suit.

"For me, it's been fun! I mean, It's different and at times I haven't even worn the suit for entire episodes. Like, me and [my wife] LA watched this past episode together and we were like, 'That was so weird! I wasn't in the suit once.' As a viewer, you're like, “[Aww,] man.” But when I'm shooting it, I'm like, 'Man, I’m not in the suit once. Like, I'm so comfy!' [Laughs]"

"So that was a plus for sure while filming and it's just different. I mean, it's a lot more Barry. It's fun at times and hard at times to play Barry so discouraged constantly and he's been kind of at an all-time low -- especially his confidence for a lot of the second half of the season. So that's been weird to play and different, but it's always nice to change things up."

Gustin has previously indicated that episode 19 - the de facto season finale - ends on a cliffhanger, so perhaps he finally gets his speed back! Time will tell on that front, but here's hoping, eh?

For the actor, I can understand how awesome it would be not to wear the costume. Probably a pain everytime he gets into that thing. That being said, it's called "The Flash". Not "Iris And Her Amazing Friends".

Haven't seen this show since... Uh... Well, once Nora came into the picture, I tapped out.

Always liked this show except for a few characters like Cecile. Grant is also a great Barry Allen and even though some storylines haven't been good I think the show has done some great material with every season. The first 3 seasons were great 4 was so-so but 5 wasn't good I'll admit that. This season has been a huge improvement though. Barry has a lot more focus and the speed force storyline has been good so far.

Why is DC and the CW so obsessed with the gay way of life? Supergirl has tons of it, don't get me started on Batwoman and now Flash has gay bad guys??? Why are they pushing this way of life so much, and why can't we just have great comic book shows instead of a gay pride show?

@Jchris65 - If that's all you see and it bothers you so much that's clearly more about your problems than the show's.

The only reason why Marvel isnt doing the same is because the Chinese censors would take anything and everything away that has to do with it. And the only people Disney bows down to is China.

@Jchris65 - main producer is openly gay and personally pushed the representation. Gay people exist and prentending they dont doesnt help anyone. Every group should be represented. Btw Greg B has 14 shows airing atm. My 2 pennies.

What you want more Flash in a TV show called The Flash? Why? Everyone wants to see Barry Allen just crying, moping about and losing his powers for the 10th time, oh I forgot constantly doubting himself, I don't know if I can beat him and then he does.

Same shit every season.

Post-Crisis he's been in the suit so far in 6 episodes, little bits in some and in others he's been in a considerate and decent amount.

I don't think he would have said that if 6x19 doesn't end with him re-storing the Speed Force or creating his own to get Iris out from the Mirrorverse. Likely there would've been plenty of him in the suit for the final 3 episodes.

And for sure he'll be more in it when Season 7 is out.
