Originally launched as part of the short-lived DC Universe streaming app, there was initially a lot of excitement for Titans among fans. Unfortunately, the show didn't quite live up to those lofty expectations, though it still has a devoted fanbase and recently dropped an undeniably exciting season 4 midseason finale.
What the future holds in store for Titans is near-impossible to say, particularly with DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran mapping out a 10-year plan for the DCU.
That's expected to create a shared world encompassing film, television, and video game projects, potentially meaning shows like this one and Superman & Lois will be phased out.
During a recent interview with SFX Magazine (via CBR), Dick Grayson actor Brenton Thwaites was asked if he would like to bring his Nightwing to the big screen as part of the new DCU. Understandably, the actor seems keen to continue playing the former Robin on any sized screen he can.
"I have thought about that. I would love to do that," the actor admits. "It’s not up to me, it’s up to Warner Bros. Things at Warner Bros are changing quite drastically. Their next slate of films could be really exciting. We just have to wait and see. It would be a great honour to bring Nightwing to the big screen."
"If we were to do that, and if there was a bit of money behind a film version of Nightwing, it would be one of the greatest superhero stories out there."
There were once plans for a Nightwing movie from The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay.
It would ultimately fall by the wayside, and not even Zack Snyder appeared to have plans for Dick. After all, it's been confirmed that the defaced Robin costume spotted in the Batcave in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice belonged to Dick instead of Jason Todd, and there was no mention of Nightwing in Snyder's Justice League sequel storyboards.
