While it was to be expected, FX Networks has officially renewed its critically acclaimed vampire comedy/horror series What We Do in the Shadows for a third season, presumably set to air in 2021.
The series, which hails from the minds of Jemaine Clement (Legion; Avatar 2) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder; Thor: Ragnarok), is currently in the middle of its second season and has been performing exceedingly well. Season two is averaging 462,000 viewers for initial airings, which is more or less on par with the 467,000 viewers for season one. However, that figure only represents about 15% of the show's full audience, as delayed and multi-platform viewing brings the show's numbers to approximately 3.2 million viewers. That's a whopping 25% increase over their season one numbers.
What We Do in the Shadows is an adaptation/sequel to the 2014 feature film of the same name, which was written and directed by Clement and Waititi who also starred in the lead roles alongside Jonathan Brugh.
The television series stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor the Relentless, Matt Berry as Laszlo Cravensworth, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo, and Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson.
Season two resumes on Wednesday, May 27 and the season finale has been set for June 10.
