For the past few years, fans have squabbled among themselves about whether Marvel Television's small screen efforts are canon within the wider MCU. There's evidence to suggest both sides are correct, though the most logical answer is all of those stories took place on another Earth.
To some extent, the latter argument can be countered by the fact actors like Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are reprising their respective Daredevil roles, though we find it hard to imagine Marvel Studios being beholden to any past creative decisions in Daredevil: Born Again. That was actually evident in WandaVision when the Darkhold showed up with a new look and purpose after previously being featured in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
At the time, fans of the ABC series argued that Darkhold's return didn't decanonize the show, but a new rumour appears to dismiss the notion.
As you can see below, Disney+'s Agatha: Coven of Chaos will reportedly confirm that Agatha Harkness was in possession of the Darkhold for at least 100 years before it was taken from her by the Scarlet Witch.
This massively contradicts both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Runaways, and while we're sure some fans will attempt to explain this away, to do so would be a stretch. Much of what we saw in the show's later seasons distanced it from the MCU, anyway, so this isn't exactly a shock.
On the plus side, it might mean a future movie such as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars will bring the Agents into the MCU from their Earth to help turn the tide against Kang. That's ultimately far more likely than the characters suddenly showing up in a future story as part of the reformed S.H.I.E.L.D.
How do you all feel about this Agatha: Coven of Chaos rumour?
