Matt Murdock And Jessica Jones Feature In This New Image From Marvel And Netflix's THE DEFENDERS

The hype for those initial The Defenders reveals from last week has died down by now, but we have a new image of two of Hell's Kitchen's finest for you guys here that must have been lost in the shuffle.

Following that awesome first glimpse of Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders assembled last week, we have a new image from the upcoming superhero team-up show, featuring Daredevil in his civilian guise of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and the ever-confrontational Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).

Though it's not labeled as such, given the fact that Matt has is glasses off I'm inclined to believe this is actually a behind-the-scenes shot - unless Jones just happened to piss off the Man Without Fear during their argument to the point that he decided to remove them for effect!

The Defenders will premiere on Netflix later this year.

This show looks so action-packed!

I don't expect much.

Watching their personalities bounce off one another should be cool. Matt and Jessica are somewhat similar. Although, Jessica really transformed after her situation with Kilgrave and seems like she's not going to be as lost and downtrodden as before. Matt on the other hand lost a lot: Elektra, Foggy, Nelson and Murdock. His entire personal life finally got upended by his vigilante life.

It'll be cool to see how Jessica informs on him as she's someone who understands lost and letting it control you. When Matt “broods” (he thinks about his past, he does not brood in the traditional sense) or is bullshiting himself Jessica will mostly likely pull him out of his mind with her crass words and harsh truth.

@ComicsBornAndBred - she will probably choke him she's not afraid of using powers on ordinary people(she held that annoying neighbor of hers in the air)

@ComicsBornAndBred - That's an interesting observation. We didn't get to see enough of Jessica after finishing off Kilgrave to know where she really is emotionally, but she certainly isn't a coddler. I'm thinking of that support group scene as an example of her basically telling people to stop feeling sorry for themselves. If moody Matt shows up, I could see him getting that treatment from her to motivate him.

I wonder how much the writers of The Defenders will really pick up the characters where they left off in their own series though. Luke Cage in JJ seemed different enough to me from his own show, that I'm not confident each character is going to be advanced along their own arc in a coherent way. I suppose it's not that different from characters guest starring in other comic books though, they always seem a little off when they do.

@MyBeard - I think they have to pick up from where the characters left off. I think the show runners have said that.

I think this teamup only works if each character brings along their personal baggage. That way, everyone's issues, attitudes, shortcomings and bullshit hits tha fan and clash with one another.

Cox has said Matt is lost after season 2 and has given up crime fighting and rightfully so as his vigilante life has destroyed his personal relationships.

So I think this will be a continuation of everyone's arcs and doing so, while also having theit stories tied together by this new threat, is interesting.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Daredevil got dragged into court for child support of three kids he had a decade ago.

Daredevil's argument in his own defense was, "Why the hell do I have to pay for kids that I'll never see?"

@ComicsBornAndBred - I read that article the other day as well. My thinking was it would clearly be the goal to pick up each character where they left off, but not so easily accomplished.

I imagine the actors would be able to bring themselves to the same place, but so much depends on the writing.

I was just reading Civil War with all the tie-ins and found a number of times when the characters seemed to be handled differently enough to be noticeable. That is so clearly and completely writer driven though.

I hope that they can pull it off. These shows are already so well done, that having the Defenders dig in and then lead right back into their own series would be an amazing accomplishment. Maybe having actual actors, as opposed to drawings, will help.

I could watch DD every day and have been pretty much this year

Liked Purple Man more than any other aspect of JJ still am not clear what she can do

I'm black Luke Cage was whatever can't sit through it again honestly...if they could've found away to merge JJ and Cage to make one show I could rewatch...

Hoping Iron Fist wears the black costume from DD S 1 as an allusion to the Brubaker run

That is all

@LukeCage2155 - Idk man I think it was missing that it factor
It was bold but Idk I felt they played it safe especially in there choice of Cage
The actor kinda put me to sleep especially trying to binge then the whole big villain was a joke...copperhead?

Try watching it with your black mom and ask her what she thinks about him sleeping with Misty the first "Knight" while treating Dawson as some kinda worthwhile pursuit

It kinda devalues black women IMO and then tell her, oh his real girl is a white women who killed his black wife...

I didn't even tell my mom the last part because I didn't want her to judge me 😂 While I was binging

@0bstreperous - I enjoy Luke Cage it reminded me of old school Shaft, The Last Dragon, and New Jack City.

Diamondback reminded me of Sho'Noff from the The Last Dragon.

My mom would be confuse and asking me questions about Luke Cage.

Bring on Iron Fist and The Defenders.

I want to see Daredevil take on a much stronger foe like he would have in the comics. Daredevil's combat effectiveness is not necessarily limited by his physical strength.

His situational awareness and reflexes make him a pretty formidable foe, at least on the printed page.
