Despite Being Critically Panned, IRON FIST Becomes A Huge Hit On Netflix

Danny Rand keeps beating the odds, as Iron Fist is one of the biggest launches in Netflix's history, generating numbers similar to Luke Cage. The viewers have decided - it's another success.

Netflix usually doesn't share viewer-ship data, but we know that Luke Cage was the 16th most viewed show of 2016 across all platforms. The good news is that even though Iron Fist doesn't generate higher numbers than the last year's streaming hit, it's getting very close to it. Thanks to third-party analysis we know that the show has surpassed the starting point numbers of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

It looks like the controversies surrounding the show have helped it in the bigger picture. Iron Fist also gets a strong support from the fans and good old word-of-mouth, as it's performing better in the longer run than all of the previous Marvel-Netflix show. The show also has a pretty impressive user rating of 5 stars. Time will tell if it's enough to secure the show's second season.

To each their own, but i've seen some ppl defend this show so damn hard that they actually put this above DD and JJ, i mean i'm not the one to judge anyone at all, but c'mon son...
Still, the critics lost their mind when they gave it a 4 out of 10, unlike LC there isn't ONE single episode that i actually disliked.
Again i wasn't impressed, it was a BIG ok S1 for me, 6 out of 10 fosho.

@Doomsday8888 - This is my order of the Netflix Marvel shows:
Daredevil Season 1 (Well paced, well written, great action. I could praise this season to death, its just amazing)

Iron Fist Season 1 (Bit of bias as IF is my favourite comic character, but loved the cheesiness in the action and the characters. Villains were great. Dialogue not so much, but I liked it in a weird way. Might not be the best show out of the Netflix ones, but certainly the most fun I've had watching these shows)

Jessica Jones (Well written, great characters and best villain in the MCU imo, suffers from bad pacing like DD S2/Luke Cage/IF a bit)

Daredevil Season 2 (First four episodes are among the best i've seen, Punisher trial/prison was great, some minor nitpicks here and there including pacing, but still thought it was great)

Luke Cage (First half is amazing, loved Cotton Mouth. Second half suffered a bit from the whole barn fiasco, and while I really enjoyed Diamond Back - I like really golden age type dialogue, same reason I really liked Iron Fist - thought his whole twist/reveal wasn't well done. Loved Luke Cage as a character though, and the theme of Harlem responding to a black guy who can't get shot was really well done)

Thought I was going to be harsher on Iron Fist, but there was a lot of fan service that kept me from hating it. It might have not been the second best when you look at it from a more objective view, but I loved Danny and how they dealt with his story. The dialogue wasn't good at all compared to the other shows, but I looked at it as if it was your Robert Clause/Bruce Lee Kung-Fu film which made me enjoy the show a lot more in terms of dialogue. Regardless, it was the most fun I've had watching a Marvel Netflix show, and I can see why people didn't like it and I accept those criticisms, it's more of the fanboy side of me that makes me love it.

The show had a "Raimi Spiderman" vibe to it, and I loved it. As I said, I don't think it's the best made series as if I was ranking it by that I'd put JJ and DDS2 above IF, but I had a ton of fun with Iron Fist, and hope a second season would be better made.

@Doomsday8888 - the thing people are forgetting or failing to mention is most of the critics reviews are based off episodes 1-6 which imo were pretty lame. The show is kind of the opposite of Luke cage. I would give it a 6 out of 10 as well.

Ive got 3 episodes left, and to me it's not as bad as some people are saying it is. I do have some issues with it. To me the show is just ok,

@DarthGrizzly - I think the big thing with this show is backlash because a lot were expecting a lot more from it. It's not bad, there is certainly some very enjoyable stuff in there, but from a technical perspective (dialogue, fight choreography, sfx, cinematography) it really doesn't hold a candle to any of the other Netflix Marvel series. I also feel like you might like it a little less after you finish it. At least for me, the Meachums are some pretty interesting characters, but their story has a really unsatisfying climax and ending.

Still though, all of that is just my opinion on why it has the negative reviews it does. I don't think it necessarily deserves to be rated that low, but it is definitely the biggest miss of all the marvel Netflix series.

I wasn't impressed by the show. I thought it was the worst of the four. But I do not think I would call this a "Bad" show. I still thought it was well done and decent.

Glad it succeeded, I would prefer him not to get a second season, and to have a heroes for hire instead but oh well.

The first 2 episodes had several laugh-out-loud terrible moments but then it gets much better. I'm 8 episodes in and enjoying it.

@MattBellissimo - When Colleen Wing had her students surprise attack her in the park, I was dying.

But now Ward Meachum is becoming one of my favorite Marvel villains to date.

First and last episode were really bad. Finn's performance could have more charismatic and the technique could have been tighter. Weakest of the Marvel Netflix shows.

The real Defenders are the people who think it's amazing. It's just meh-ok.
