We recently got confirmation that Dominique Thorne will make her MCU debut as Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before going on to lead her own Disney+ series, and we may now know which villain will be opposing her on the show.

The Illuminerdi has heard that the son - or daughter - of Iron Man baddie Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) will make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut during Ironheart. The character is described as being "in their 40s, brilliant, and comedic."

This is most likely a version of Iron Monger's son Ezekiel “Zeke” Stane from the comic books, but based on this report, it seems there's a chance he'll be gender-switched. With Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) no more, Stane would have no reason to seek vengeance for his/her father's death, but Williams taking Stark's place as the Armored Avenger might be enough to trigger some ill feelings.

We still don't know a whole lot about Ironheart, but the show is expected to stick pretty closely to Riri's comic book origin as "the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man." There's also been some speculation that the character could be retconned as a Wakandan since she'll feature in the Black Panther sequel, but we don't have anything to back that up.

What do you guys make of this rumor? Do you think introducing the child of Iron Monger to face-off against Ironheart is the right move? Drop us a comment down below.

Do you just lurk the Marvel Studios Spoiler subreddit and get your headlines from there?

@RIPSTEPHEN - no, it's from the Illuminerdi, who are a reliable source.

@generictheeric - They have been very consistent for a long time now.

All scoopers get shit wrong here and there, but their track record is really solid.

@Menks123 - I'm not doubting that. In fact, I think they buy into their own hype a little bit too much.

This honestly sounds like they are following the WeGotThisCovered and Umberto Gonzalez strategy of making broad guesses, publishing it as rumour, and seeing what sticks.

James Gunn has every reason to lie, because he has a movie that is coming out in a year or so and if he told you the truth now then people would rip a lot of his decisions apart - such as all the moments of much weaker and childish humor in GotG2 that did not fit and reduced the quality of the film overall.

Either way though, a lot of the people claiming to be sources just make educated guesses or learn a single bit of information and proceed to pretend they have an insider source for the film.

SPOILERS:
I'm fairly sure we've had actual leaks regarding GotG3's plot such as the inclusion of Moondragon, the death of Rocket, a mid-film timeskip and King Groot along with some teaser or set-up for Nova who will get his own film in Phase 5 potentially alongside Starlord for a team-up movie.

@Scarilian - This specific interaction with Gunn was regarding Adam Warlock in GOTG3 and how Illuminerdi claimed Marvel was looking to cast a "Zac Efron type."

We now 100% know that isn't true and Gunn was right to call them out.

Sounds a tad...lazy to be honest. I mean, IDK, but the previously unknown child of the first Iron Mans villain being the villain in his successors first season?

Could be great, idk. Plus kinda brings up questions like where was this child when Tony Stark was alive? Too busy to get revenge?

@DannRamm113 - definitely sounds a bit cliche especially considering their father was an evil douchebag

@DannRamm113 - methinks any child of Stane wasn't going to have the money or resources to get revenge on an Avenger for a LONG time. Stane didn't seem like the type to leave a ton of money to his children in his will, considering he was willing to kill someone as close to him as Tony with zero remorse

@DannRamm113 - second season she'll fight the secret child of Vanko ending off with season 3 and her fight against the secret child of Killian. He will have a plot to have the secret child of Slattery pretend to be the secret child of the mandarin.

@DannRamm113 - so it’s basically like Ivan Dragon’s son getting revenge in Creed 2 from Rocky 4? Lol

I really don´t understand why we never have a superhero vs. a female villain or a superheroine vs. a male villain.

I'd rather have Ezekiel Stane be in Armor Wars. In which I'm willing to bet Riri shows up, as well.
