The 49th annual People's Choice Awards took place yesterday evening, and Loki season 2 walked away with the prize for "Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of the Year."

Unlike other award shows, fans chose the winners and Loki beat the likes of The Mandalorian, Black Mirror, and The Witcher. The God of Mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston, was on hand to accept this prize and shared a message with those who voted for the Marvel Studios series.

"Thank you so much, I am so grateful for this great honour," the British actor said. "It is such a privilege to receive this People's Choice Award from you, the audience, the people for whom you make this work, and who allow us to do what we do."

"I am so proud of Season 2 of Loki as a performer, and a producer. I must say I share this with the hundreds of brilliant artists who helped to make Loki what it was."

I have played Loki for 14 years. The journey has meant the world to me, and I couldn't have done it without you," Hiddleston added. "Your passion, your curiosity, and your love for Loki is the reason I am standing here. Thank you so much."

Barbie was another big winner as was The Last of Us. One big talking point online is the fact The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes star Rachel Zegler defeated the likes of Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves to be named "Action Star of the Year."

You can watch Hiddleston's acceptance speech below along with the full list of winners from the event.

They are really stretching the Drama categories. The Bear wasn't even nominated in Best Drama TV Show? I feel like The Bear should have been nominated in a lot more categories. And probably won.

Good for Loki though. That was a good show and proof that Marvel still has the general mainstream audience attention, even if it has dwindled sporadically.

Barbie is clearly the most popular movie of the year. It was almost completely ignored at the BAFTAs last night though, with the exception of Margot Robbie being nominated for Best Actress, which is an odd choice. Not Best Picture or Greta for Best Director, but Margot for Best Actress. Okay.

I think people have been diminishing Barbie as a real film and dismissing it as merely pop culture entertainment. But it is so much more than that and deserves recognition. As far as Oscars go, my vote would be Christopher Nolan as Best Director and Barbie for Best Picture. I think it holds together a lot better and has a lot to say. Just because there is a plastic children's toy singing a silly musical number should not mean that it is not art. Maybe they should've shot the whole film in Black and White and had people discussing gender politics and hierarchical social systems and forms of government in rooms for 3 hours, it might have garnered more praise from those who need to be told a film is good using the language of style. But if it had done that it would have been less artistic and more pretentious. The style it chose was suitable for the subject matter. It is done in the style of an empty commercial product, like the doll. So people think that's what it is.

You've got to look deeper than the surface to see art.

Mission Impossible being beaten by Hunger Games in two action categories is comical, but I guess that's to be expected with people making the choices. Same with best show, best comedy and best drama actor.

Do wonder why The Bear is considered a comedy though. Fits being a drama much better. Not that it would've changed anything, because Grey's Anatomy somehow still manages to beat it though.

Well, congratulations. Not a good show, imo, but 🤷🏻‍♂️

.... The Marvels being left in the flopping hole was expected. Damn how happy I am to know that The Marvels and everything before it crashed and burned.
