LUKE CAGE: The Complete First Season Announced For Blu-ray; Set To Arrive Next Week

With Christmas just around the corner, Disney, Marvel Entertainment, and Netflix have officially announced the Blu-ray release date and special features for Luke Cage: The Complete First Season. Check it!

It's been a little over a year since the debut of Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix and it looks like the Power Man (Mike Colter) is finally ready to make his debut on home video.

In a short announcement last night, Marvel Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have officially revealed that Luke Cage: The Complete First Season will arrive on Blu-ray, next week on December 12.

Also, just like previous Marvel/Netflix releases, the series will not be released in 4K Ultra HD, which is an oddity considering that is the highest resolution it streams at on the streaming service. It will also contain the minimum amount of special features, which, this time, is just an extended roundtable discussion between four members of the principal cast (Colter, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, and Simone Missick).

Pre-orders have yet to go live, but if you wish to pick it up before Christmas to round out your MCU collection, expect to see it at Best Buy and/or Amazon starting next Tuesday.

Check out the full list of specifications below:

Special Features and Content:
  • ALL 13 episodes of the Show
  • Offstage at Harlem's Paradise - Join stars Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Alfre Woodard (Mariah), Theo Rossi (Shades) and Simone Missick (Misty) in an intimate roundtable discussion about life during the production of Luke Cage: The Complete First Season.

Technical Specs:

  • Audio: English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, DVS 2.0 Dolby Digital
  • Subtitles: English SDH, German, Japanese

In this Marvel live action series, a street-fighting ex-con battles crime on the streets of New York as the Super Hero, Luke Cage.

Still don’t get how Netflix/Marvel could cast Punisher, Kingpin and Daredevil so perfectly and yet do such a shit job with Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Colter was so boring. And they had every black man in Hollywood campaigning for the role!

Knew it was a misfire when the explanations for his casting early on were always about how sexy he was.

Punisher was [frick]ing incredible, just perfect. I needed that after Defenders (I don’t care what anyone says, it was their worst series by far. Even the awful Iron Fist crapped all over Defenders).

Hope season 2 of this continues the climb out of the netflix shitpit. I just watched ‘Godless’ and man Netflix can create some awesome shows. The potential is there.

Go watch Godless yall.

I would argue the first half of Luke Cage was excellent. Not sure why the made the decision to do what they did but it definitely has huge negative effects on the second half.

Josh Wilding is a Love-Em-And-Leave-Em jerk that doesn't return phone calls. That's why I'm blocking him, for lying to me about wanting to be together.

Marvel TV in the U.S. always does this. They don't say shit for months while Marvel U.K. talks openly about blu-ray releases and offer steel book pre-orders.

I just received my import for the Luke Cage steel book, and not a day later, Marvel TV in the U.S. finally gets around to announcing the release of this.

I swear, I own like 6 PAL version blu-rays because of this shit.

We really need them to release Agent Carter 1 (only Amazon and I think it is gone now) and 2 along with Agents of Shield 3 and 4 on blu-ray domestically for all retailers in the US. Does anyone know if Marvel will ever get around to the rest of the ABC releases?

@Thanson - And if not, can someone do links for the blu-ray versions (I have seen several) of these seasons that work in any US blu-ray player?

Why would I buy a DVD of a show that I can watch literally whenever I want on Netflix... why would I buy a DVD for any Netflix show?

Wasn't the biggest fan of this series. Was great up until they offed Cottonmouth. Then it was kinda downhill from there.

But, I'll still buy it to add it to my Marvel/Netflix collection.
