Ahead of next Wednesday's premiere of Moon Knight, another featurette for the series has been released. Focusing on a conversation between Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy, it makes for fun viewing, but it's what's in the background that's surprised the majority of fans.
As you can see, there's a very specific comic book next to Isaac: Werewolf by Night #32. This issue marked the first appearance of Moon Knight in the Marvel Universe, but many fans are convinced this is a reference to Marvel Studios' upcoming Halloween special. Directed by Spider-Man: No Way Home composer Michael Giacchino, it will star Gael García Bernal as Werewolf by Night.
The expectation among fans is that Moon Knight will either appear in that special or Werewolf by Night is going to make a cameo appearance in Marc Spector's solo series.
It's probably just a coincidence, and don't forget that a glimpse of Wonder Man concept art in a WandaVision featurette led nowhere. As a result, we're not putting too much stock in a comic book that simply appears in the background here meaning too much, especially as it featured this character's first appearance. Still, we can't help but wonder if we will see Werewolf by Night sooner than expected.
The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30.
