WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Director Michael Giacchino Claims There Are No Plans For A MOON KNIGHT Crossover

Moon Knight made his debut in the pages of Werewolf by Night #32, but fans hoping to see the two characters meet in this October's Werewolf by Night "Special Presentation" may end up being disappointed.

On October 7, Disney+ will release its first "Marvel Studios Special Presentation" with Werewolf by Night. Starring Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly, it's clearly going to put a very different spin on the MCU, with the trailer pointing to it being the first true horror story set in this world (no offence, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).

Composer Michael Giacchino will step behind the camera to direct this Halloween Special, and shared his vision for the project during a recent interview at D23.

"It's a werewolf movie," he confirmed. "The thing about monsters that I love is that [they're] always struggling with something. They're saddled with something they can't control and it's such a great way to think about life. We all have these things in our lives that we're either ashamed of we're working on or trying to be better at."

"I feel like monster movies are an amazing way to tell those stories. We tried to go as deep as we could and tell a story about people who have this affliction but still care about something and are still working outward to be better and help each other," Giacchino continues. "I feel like the best monster movies do that and that's the direction we go in."

It certainly sounds like he has the right grasp on Werewolf by Night, and talk soon turned to Moon Knight's possible involvement. Bernal appeared somewhat thrown off by the question, responding "I have no idea." Giacchino, on the other hand, was quick to shoot the idea down.

"Moon Knight first appeared in Werewolf by Night in the comics years ago. That’s what everyone is thinking. Yeah, there are no immediate plans for anything like that."

Do we believe him? Unfortunately, yes. At the end of Moon Knight, Marc Spector and Steven Grant rid themselves of Khonshu, meaning Jack Lockley is the only one to hold that mantle now. He could certainly appear here, though that might be a little hard to explain in a one-off "Special Presentation."

Werewolf by Night premieres on Disney+ on October 7.
