MS. MARVEL First Trailer And Poster Welcome A New Superhero Into The MCU; Premiere Date Finally Revealed

Marvel Studios has finally released the first trailer and poster for Ms. Marvel along with confirmation that the series launches on Disney+ on June 8. In this unique sneak peek, we learn more about how the MCU's newest superhero will balance high school life, her family, and her emerging superpowers.

The footage confirms that Kamala Khan's powers are the result of a cosmic artefact (likely Nega-Bands) rather than the teenager being an Inhuman. However, these Green Lantern-style abilities still give Ms. Marvel the chance to unleash something very similar to her Embiggening abilities in the comics.

"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City," reads the newly revealed synopsis for the highly anticipated series. "An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"

It's also been confirmed that joining Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.

Bisha K. Ali is the show's Head Writer, while episodes were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. We're intrigued to see where Ms. Marvel goes, and it's certainly looking like the character will be an exciting new addition to the MCU.

Disney and Marvel also released a new poster for the show. Check out that and the trailer below:

@theprophet - I think they wanted to reserve stretch powers for Mr. Fantastic.

I actually really like the look of this! I know some fans are FURIOUS about the power change, but tbh I think it works - especially if the go the Nega-bands route, then she has a way stronger connection to Cpt. Marvel and the whole Kree side of things too.

I enjoy Kamala's Inhumans connections in the comics, but ever since Marvel threw them to the side nothing much has been done with it, so this new version works.

I liked the vibe of the trailer. Good song choice and the little visual effects at the beginning.

I personally don't care too much about her power changes since I don't know much about the character and this was one of my least anticipated MCU projects, but I think these powers look cool. Gonna be controversial for those that do feel attached to her traditional powers though

@PicolasCage - it seems like a lot of people haven’t figured out that they are the nega bands and their significance to the Captain Marvel family.

They leaned heavily In the teen comedy genre. I like that because I've always liked awkward teen comedies. Her powers look weird though

@Waddles - Funny enough, I remember that was what the MCU Spider-Man movies were trying to go for and it has been said Ms. Marvel in the comics is basically Spider-Man for a new generation so it’s fitting.

@Waddles - they really are and it's a great thing. I hope they keep it that way throughout the whole show

@CaptainFlash17 - 100%. It's funny but when she first came out people complained it was just a race swap of Carol, but its really always been a refresh of Spider-Man - one for a new generation.

Not a fan of the change in powers at all, but that being said it looks pretty charming. Reminds me of Never Have I Ever (with a superhero filter) which my gf and I enjoy.

I like the comic book visuals and the speech bubbles. Seems like she views the world through rose-colored comic book lenses.

@BlackBeltJones - that's exactly what I was thinking of. I love those types of awkward coming of age stories and the actress in that does really well. Can't wait for season 3

@MyCoolYoung - its honestly one of the most enjoyable shows on tv. Definitely one of the best coming-of-age shows ever IMO. The lead is so good.

@BlackBeltJones - 100%. Doesn't rely on a bunch of nudity or anything like that even when dealing with sex and sexual themes which I find refreshing. Just so we'll done

Kinda curious about what they're doing with her powers, they're mixing up various elements from the comics from what I understand and that's somewhat interesting.

So They just decided to change her from Mr. Fantastic powers to Green Lantern?! WTF? I mean I know they were not going to be brave enough to make her an Inhuman.. but come on!

@TheMandalorian - well they haven’t introduced the he Inhumans yet into the MCU. Agents of Shield isn’t canon.

@PerrinNation1 - this isn’t a multiverse project. The Inhumans haven’t shown up.
