Kamala Khan's "embiggening" abilities from the comic books will be getting a Green Lantern-like overhaul for her live-action debut in the upcoming Ms. Marvel Disney+ series, and quite a few fans of the character were not too happy about such a significant change to her power-set.

Kevin Feige and Kamala's co-creator Sana Amanat have already weighed in on the decision and the negative response, and star Iman Vellani has now shared her response during an interview with SFX Magazine (via The Direct).

"I’m very possessive [of Kamala]," said the young actress when asked about the backlash. "I think we stay true to what the comics brought. The themes have always been about identity and about marrying the 50 million things that make Kamala. For all I care, she could shoot sausages out of her fingers, as long as she still goes on that self-discovery journey."

There's been a lot of speculation that Khan's body-morphing abilities may have been changed because they were a little too similar to Reed Richards', but if there's any truth to that, it probably won't come out until Marvel Studios makes some progress on the long-awaited Fantastic Four reboot!

"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City," reads the updated synopsis. "An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"

Ms. Marvel also stars Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
