Ms. Marvel has proven to be surprisingly controversial among comic book fans, but with sweeping changes made to Kamala Khan's powers (she's now more Green Lantern than Mister Fantastic), that's not overly surprising. Very few details have been revealed about the Disney+ series, but some new promo art puts the spotlight on the heroic Red Dagger.

Played by Aramis Knight (Into the Badlands), the hero looks near identical to the comic books.

Created by G. Willow Wilson and Mirka Andolfo, the character first appeared in 2016's Ms. Marvel #12. He's Kamala's cousin and took on his Red Dagger moniker while living in Pakistan. The hero would later participate in a student exchange program that bought him into Kamala's life in New Jersey.

Elsewhere in this promo art, we see more of Kamala, some of her illustrations of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and lots of hints about what to expect from New Jersey's Avengercon. An event celebrating The Avengers, it's there that Kamala will don her homemade Captain Marvel costume before becoming a superhero herself...and eventually teaming up with the real Carol Danvers in The Marvels!

Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8.

I still don't understand why so many people are bothered by the changes to her powers. She still clearly stretches. It's just powered cosmically instead of being Inhuman. Visually it looks much cooler than just stretching anyway.

Also... the shows and films ARE NOT the comics. Whether it's terrigen mist or nega bands we still arrive at the character's essence.

It's like being upset in one version of Spider-Man his webbing comes from his own body and another version he creates his webbing using a device.

Different universes here folks. The comics have been doing this long before the MCU.
