While we've known of his involvement for quite some time, the latest TV spot for Marvel Studios' Ms. Marvel features our first look at the mysterious character played by Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara; Toofaan).

There isn't much to go on, but it does look to be someone Kamala (Iman Vellani) crosses paths with on what appears to be a trip to Pakistan. This lines up with Akthar reportedly being part of the series' Bangkok shoot, as the city had been heavily rumored to serve as a backdrop for Pakistan.

It's hard to say whether he's a friend or foe, but it does sound like he'll offer Kamala some information about her all-powerful bracelet. The Red Dagger (Aramis Knight) is also present in the new footage, so there could be a chance Akhtar's character has some ties to him as well.

Ms. Marvel is now streaming exclusively on Disney+; check out the latest spot below:

Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?

Just saw the pilot...

Didn't have expectations for it to begin with, but I thought it was fine. Slow burn tho, I guess all the MCU shows first episodes are.

With Marvel's desire to bring diverse nationalities and ethnicities to the forefront, i wonder if Sunfire is going to show up early as an X-Man. Japanese representation.

@TheManWithoutFear - Yep. He'll be married to Northstar. They'll have a dog named Sodomutt. Somewhere along the way They'll show a picture of classic X-Men fighting Magneto on the cover of a magazine, sitting on top of a coffee table. They may eventually get to that story as well... one day.

Well, I've been vocal about how the trailers did absolutely nothing for me and this show definitely wasn't made for me. But I try to give everything a chance and keep an open mind.

I have no problem admitting I was wrong. The first episode was phenomenal. Incredibly well written and directed, Kamala is just as loveable and charismatic as in the comics and videogames, it told a bold story that had themes and messages but wasn't forcing WOKE agendas down my throat. I was very very impressed. I hope this show keeps up this level of quality and creativity, if it does it may very well become my favorite MCU show thus far.

I was wrong.

And I think it was even more impressive because I watched it immediately after watching episode 4 of REVA: The Series which continues to be garbage.

Ms. Marvel was such a wonderful pallet cleanser. It's refreshing to see content created with passion and care and attention to details.

The good thing about this show for me is I have very little knowledge of Ms Marvel and her villains so it’s all a blank slate for me. Let’s hope the RT scores don’t lie (I know they do).

I was waiting for this article. I'm also here to report I was wrong. The first episode was a lot better than the trailers. I had issues, but they are mostly nit picking. This first episode showed me the heart and creativity. I'll keep watching.

best pilot episode for one of these, and maybe the best episode of the whole d+ marvel era so far. i think it helps that it's so stripped down and not over-complicated in half-baked plot set-up like the last few were. loved to see how much style was in it, and kamala's mom has the exact same cadence as my mom so that was funny to see lol

@tmp3 - my first childhood best friend was Pakistani and his family was almost exactly like Kamalas.

@UGLYsonic - i'm pakistani, so it was definitely fun seeing so many little intricacies captured here. also they play a riz ahmed song in the background during the first high school scene haha

@tmp3 - it's quite amazing how detailed this first episode was. Everyone felt like real people, the parents were so well cast, and Kamala might be the realist feeling Character in the entire MCU. Every other hero plays their character really well but they feel fictional, but Kamala actually seemed like a regular girl who got super powers. I loved that.

Watched it and really liked it! Sure it skews a bit younger so far but the production values, acting and script totally elevate it for me.
