We recently learned that Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 21, and we now have a new look at Marvel Studios' "game-changing espionage thriller" courtesy of a plethora of official promo stills (via Vanity Fair).
The images spotlight the show's main players, including Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman).
We also have confirmation that Emilia Clarke is indeed playing Talos' daughter G’iah, while Kingsley Ben-Adir is on villain duty as Gravik, a “resistance leader who has radicalized a group of Skrull extremists to seize the resources” they need in order to survive—“first quietly, by disguising themselves, then by force, if needed.”
There seems to be a tighter lid being kept on Olivia Colman's character, but Jackson says her "shadowy MI6 operative" is "somebody that you've never seen her play before. She's coldblooded and just relishes being that person.”
The legendary actor also explained why the Skrulls felt the need to take such drastic measures since the events of Captain Marvel.
“They kept their word. They worked for him, but he hasn't done what he said he was going to do. They want a home. They want to live. They want to live in their skin. They don't want to live in ours.”
Check out the stills below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer, which shouldn't be too far away.
Secret Invasion "follows Nick Fury as he uncovers a conspiracy to install double-agents into positions of power around the world: shapeshifting green-skinned extra-terrestrials known as Skrulls, who can perfectly simulate any human being at will."
