A brief cameo appearance in Avengers: Endgame aside, it's been a while since we've seen Nick Fury in action in the MCU. The former S.H.I.E.L.D. director is set to return for the Secret Invasion Disney+ series, but is there a chance he could he also show up in The Marvels?
Samuel L. Jackson has shared an Instagram post teasing his imminent return as Fury, as he takes the signature goatee out of storage. We initially assumed this was for Secret Invasion, but production hasn't kicked-off (as far as we know) yet, and Brie Larson (Carol Danvers) recently confirmed that filming is now underway on the Captain Marvel sequel.
Also, if you scroll on to the next photo, Jackson is wearing a very telling t-shirt!
Jackson wasn't officially announced as a returning cast member for The Marvels, but after playing such a pivotal part in the first film, we can't imagine Danvers won't drop by for at least a brief chat with her old ally.
Plot details for Captain Marvel 2 are still under wraps (you can check out a vague logline here), but we do know that Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani will make her big-screen debut as Kamala Khan, and WandaVision's Teyonah Parris will reprise the role of Monica Rambeau. British actress Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat, Velvet Buzzsaw) is also on board as the main villain.
DaCosta will direct from a script by WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell. The Marvels is set to fly into theaters on November 11, 2022.
