Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Secret Invasion during D23 and it quickly became apparent that the Disney+ series is taking a different approach to the story it's named after.

Whereas that was a huge comic book event pitting Earth's Mightiest Heroes against an army of Skrulls, the TV show will focus on Nick Fury as he seemingly attempts to stop the alien shape-shifters from infiltrating Earth. A story like that is definitely exciting, of course, though we do hope Marvel Studios plans to use this concept for more than a one-and-done series.

After all, Captain Marvel barely did the epic Kree/Skrull War justice, and these stories all feel far too important to be overshadowed by everything else that's happening in The Multiverse Saga.

Regardless, we now have some new photos from the set of Secret Invasion as reshoots begin taking place in London, England. Emilia Clarke's mystery character - who has previously been rumoured to be playing a Skrull called G'iah - appears to be in Russia, hiding out in the back of a meat truck before being pursued by some pretty shady-looking operatives.

Without further context, it's hard to say what's going on here or how much these additional scenes will change what we see from the show. However, it all seems to fit in nicely with what we know about the tone and the fact this is more a spy thriller than a superhero blockbuster.

"Secret Invasion is a newly announced series heading to Disney+ that stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, characters who first met in Captain Marvel," reads an official synopsis for the show. "The crossover event series showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years."

@bobevanz - Same. Like with DC trailers, they look OK, and majority of the time, turn out fecking shite, unfortunately.

Is she supposed to be Talos' daughter?

She's either a Skrull or a SWORD operative

Speaking of Captain Marvel not doing the Kree/Skrull War justice, I was hoping that the second one would build on that. From what I heard in the plot leaks, it sounds like the sequel will also have an underwhelming plot. Hopefully the relationship and interplay of the three leads is able to carry the film.

@mountainman - You can't really call it underwhelming when you have absolutely no idea how it will play out visually and narratively. Especially when it's still over 9 months away from release. Also, why do some idiot fans always cave and read plot leaks. Thank feck I'm more strong willed than that.

@Whaley87 - I didn’t used to do it, but after I started becoming underwhelmed with phase 4, I figured it could save me the time of seeing in theaters if it didn’t sound good. The recent ones have been pretty accurate too. Dr Strange 2 and Thor 4 leaks were near exact.

I hope that she is Jessica Drew(not the Skrull version) even though I know that Sony has a strangle hold on all things "Spider-related". Even though she has absolutely nothing to do with Spider-Man, which is VERY annoying.

@Blastaar - Yeah, she's really only been a part of the Spider-verse mythos in recent years. She's more of a SHIELD/Avengers character.

@comicfan100 - Yeah, her origin and everything has NOTHING to do with Spider-Man, so I don't know why Sony has the rights, which is absolutely stupid. This would be the perfect way to introduce the character here.

Side note I LOVE the tone of this so far.

From the trailer I got a Captain America:The Winter Soldier feel from which would be outstanding if true, but we know Disney to well.

Wasn't Mary Elizabeth Weinstead cast in this series as well? I could be mistaken but I think she would kill it As Abigail Brand if not Emily Clark. Honestly I can see Jessica drew playing a role as a shield agent here to. Emily could definitely play Veranke who might end up being talos daughter. Bring on the SUPER SKRULLS KIrt & Paibock 💪🏾🔥🔥

Geez sad to see an epic event like Secret Invasion reduced to a elderly Nick Fury show, i hope that at least Carol shows up

I’m interested in this series but I feel like this should be more of an epic event film more than a Disney+ series. If it was a film we could get a lot more cameos and secret skrulls but since it’s a streaming series we will probably get the low budget cast of cameos with fewer secret skrulls that will actually be impactful to the audience. Because who really cares if “shield agent A” is a skrull. It’d be crazier to see someone who matters being a skrull. I’m already guessing Rhodey is a skrull and his secret service agents. But I guess majority of the original Avengers are all busy doing their own solo stuff. Here’s to hoping it can be as interesting of a spy thriller as the Winter Soldier.

This could have been a good opportunity to re-introduce Mockingbird.
