Daredevil's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut didn't disappoint, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law gave us a pitch-perfect take on the Man Without Fear, including a badass hallway fight scene...with a twist.

Today's episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finally brought Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the unique tone of the show allowed Matt Murdock to crack some jokes (which we're sure will be welcomed by fans of Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's superb comic book run), he was still every bit the badass we remember from his Netflix days.

Teaming up with Jennifer Walters to deal with Leap-Frog, Daredevil confronted some of the misguided villain's goons...in a hallway!

Yes, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law gave us one of the hero's patented hallway fight scenes, and Charlie Cox hasn't missed a step. This is the Daredevil fans want to see in the MCU, and we have to give Marvel Studios - and director Kat Coiro - a lot of props for finding a way to include this throwback to Matt's former small screen adventures.

There was, however, a slight twist. Just as Daredevil was gearing up to battle a whole group of goons, She-Hulk made an incredible entrance...much to 'ol Hornhead's chagrin.

We're sure Marvel Studios is saving the best for Daredevil: Born Again, but this was awesome and a clear indication that they know exactly what they're doing with this character.

Elsewhere in the episode, Matt and Jen really hit it off and end up spending the night together. However, the Hell's Kitchen vigilante is still in his superhero costume, forcing the Man Without Fear to do the walk of shame the next morning...while still suited up in his snazzy red and yellow costume.

We'll leave you with that image below. Just brace yourselves for certain "fans" to start kicking off about how Marvel Studios has "ruined" their beloved Daredevil...

Awesome, awesome episode. Maslany and Cox's chemistry was freakin perfect. And the episode just in general was such a fun ride. Weird ending tho, but whatever. I'm still guessing The Leader is behind all of this.

Also, another Wolverine reference?

I like the show well enough but it is painful how inaccurate the court scenes are. Two lawyers can’t just argue back and forth the way they do on this show, that’s not how it works

@noahthegrand - Within the context of the show with superhero laywers I can get past that..

I'm just not sure how to feel on the walk of shame though. Lol.

Murdock is known as a bit of a cassanova, but he just showed up and is already getting him some kitty and skipping happily down the road with his horns out after getting she hulk smashed 😅.

Definitely a reinvention I'll need to get use to.

The writers already admitted that they are not good with this shit, hopefully they will hire better writers for Born again.

Shit, as a matter of fact, just f*cking rehire Steven DeKnight goddammit!

I'd like to thank the Depp/Heard LawTube community for educating legally illiterate schmucks like me on how courtroom interactions are supposed to actually play out.

@noahthegrand - I really feel like there's just not enough time in these shows to let the courtroom stuff play out as it normally does in legal dramas. I think the scene is basically entirely accurate if it had been an arbitration, but the show just needed to use the shorthand of "look, we're in a courtoom, look there's a judge" rather than get bogged down in the process.

The pacing of the show is really fast, and I'll bet they're afraid of losing momentum if they slow it down (and they probably are right to be afraid, since some of their legal scenes do already drag a bit even as brief as they are). Add to that the expense of just having Jen in She-Hulk form, which she has to be for the court scenes, and the show has all of these incentives to keep the court scenes moving.

I'd love to see Feige reach out to David E. Kelley and have him consult on a second season or one-off special or something.

@Origame - or, hear me out, it's a half hour sitcom about a woman who turns into a hulk because some of her cousins hulk blood mixed with hers when an alien spaceship caused a car crash.

Do you also go onto reddit subs about old tv shows and complain about the courtroom inaccuracies of Night Court or are super hero shows the only thing held to these standards?
Origame
Origame - 10/6/2022, 9:18 AM
@SATW42 - ...I think it's fair to critique the court room scenes of a show subtitled "attorney at law". Especially when the writers agree with me that they suck at writing trial scenes.

Plus, it's a comic book movie website. Why do you expect me to care about night court?

This episode was wonderful. Like it was ripped straight from a Daredevil/She-Hulk comic.

BIG GRIN on my face when they used the theme.

Also, Matt still feels like Matt, but now finally there's a budget to have him do Cool Acrobatic Daredevil Shit (one thing Netflix lacked) while keeping the grittier brawl down-to-earth fighting as well.

She-Hulk did him well, excited for Born Again!!

(This show is great because it feels exactly like the She-Hulk comics, people are free to not like the lighter tone but that IS solo She-Hulk. Free to not watch the show if they like, but to say it's "objectively badly written" is very silly)

I have no worries with how DD will be handled in the MCU now. I'm actually kind of annoyed that the Netflix shows made Matt so dour and serious most of the time. Charlie has a natural charisma that shines through when he's trying to be funny and charming. Rather than stoic and serious(not that he has trouble doing that either). I appreciate that the Netflix show took time to see how being DD takes a toll on Matt, but finally glad that for a brief moment we got to see the swashbuckler side of DD.

His chemistry with Tatiana was on fire. She wasn't joking when she said the line "you feel it too, right?" I hope she makes an appearance in Born Again. It's not big of an opportunity not to take advantage of.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 10/6/2022, 7:33 AM
@JoeInTheBox - It depends on what run of Daredevil you are reading.

The Brubaker run was very serious and Matt was not really ever trying to be charming or funny in that whole run. He was so busy dealing with serious negative life changing events that he had no time to be nice and funny.

But there are definitely more light hearted runs as well. So both Netflix and this are actually handling him pretty faithfully, depending on what runs we're talking about.

But the problem is people will always compare this to the Netflix show because so many people loved it, and they are using the same actor. So there's a level of expectation that people have. It's kind of like if Bernthal's Punisher shows up and he's suddenly fighting super villains and getting turned into Frankencastle. It doesn't fit with what came before even though it would actually be comic accurate.

JoeInTheBox - 10/6/2022, 8:24 AM
@CorndogBurglar - Oh I'm not suggesting the Netflix show wasn't accurate, it was just one side of DD that didn't define the entire legacy of the character. The MCU version so far is a refreshing updated version that doesn't betray the Netflix show, but feels like a smooth transition into a new home. Both are welcome, but I prefer this swashbuckler version myself.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 10/6/2022, 8:40 AM
@JoeInTheBox - Agreed! I prefer the darker tone DD, but you're completely right. In fact, comics tend to change greatly from run to run depending on the writer and what they want to do.

So like, we had years of DD being dark and moody with Brubaker's run, it kind of all came to a head with Shadow land. Then his next new run with new writers took him in a more lighthearted direction. Yet it was all the same character and continuity. And it even made sense. Brubaker's run put DD through the wringer. Probably worse than ever before. Of course his outlook is going to be more harsh. He had the most important love of his life die, his identity was outed, he went to prison for a while. Who would still be happy go lucky with all that happening? Lol

Just curious why you put "FANS" in quotes.

It's like saying if you don't like it, you're not a fan of comics. It's ridiculous. Nothing is universally praised

The entire last paragraph is nothing but gaslighting and begging for people to bash it. I dont understand the logic behind it. It's the same thing that the studios do when they put out advanced statements about people being racist if they don't like the content of a race swapped character.

@JackRussoff3 - "A fan or fanatic, sometimes also termed an aficionado or enthusiast, is a person who exhibits strong interest or admiration for something or somebody, such as a celebrity, a sport, a sports team, a genre, a politician, a book, a movie, a video game or an entertainer.

That statement is trying to start some flames i think. The episode just came out and most of the core audience hasn't even seen it yet. Just my opinion, but if he already see's fans not liking it, doesn't it say somthing about his own opinion? i dunno. Fans are entitled their opinions, and i for one still don't know how i feel about the scene, but i definitly count myself as a daredevil fan. Don't need validation to like what you like and don't like
