Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk has added Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding; Space Force; Togetherness) in a key role as Jennifer Walters' best friend.
No official character name was given, but in the comics, Jennifer's best friend since childhood is Jill Stevens, who is a writer at West Magazine in Los Angeles. She also had a similar physical appearance to Jennifer, which sometimes caused confusion amongst their peers and led to a tragic mixup once Jennifer gained her superheroic abilities.
Gonzaga joins a cast headlined by Primetime Emmy-winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black; Perry Mason; Stronger) with Marvel Cinematic Universe alums Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame; Avengers: Infinity War; Thor: Ragnarok) and Tim Roth (The Incredible Hulk; Pulp Fiction; The Hateful Eight) also set to appear in leading roles, reprising their roles as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Emil Blonsky/The Abomination, respectively.
Kat Coiro (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Anu Valia (A.P. Bio; Never Have I Ever) will be splitting director duty with Primetime Emmy-winner Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty; Silicon Valley) serving as the showrunner.
She-Hulk is tentatively scheduled to begin filming at the end of March and, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, will consist of ten episodes, which are set to premiere, exclusively on Disney+, in 2022.
