The first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, "A Normal Amount of Rage," premiered on Disney+ last Thursday, and the show is officially a smash hit!
Samba TV, a service that tracks viewership numbers in the U.S., has reported that the series premiere drew 1.5 million households in the Live+3 window. These numbers should always be taken with a pinch of salt because not every household is measured and these aren't global figures; however, this is still more than double Ms. Marvel's 662,000 premiere viewers.
"Disney+ delivered hulk-sized viewership with the premiere of its latest Marvel program She-Hulk," says Cole Strain, Vice President of Measurement Products at Samba TV. "While recent female-led superhero series have been marked by lower viewership, or in the case [of] Batgirl, were canceled altogether, She-Hulk reversed this trend, more than doubling the premiere weekend viewership of the most recent Marvel series, Ms. Marvel, and delivered numbers on par with Moon Knight."
"Stars like Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo helped make this a big hit with Gen-Z millennials, Black, and Hispanic households that all over-indexed in their viewership."
The presence of Mark Ruffalo's Hulk no doubt increased interest in the show, as did that "Hulk" branding. While the Jade Giant hasn't starred in his own movie since 2008's The Incredible Hulk, he remains one of the MCU's most popular characters thanks to blockbusters like Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame.
Tatiana Maslany also has a large fanbase after starring in Orphan Black, while reviews for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law were overwhelmingly positive. Marvel Studios clearly has a hit on its hands with this Disney+ series, and we anticipate Jennifer Walters having a bright future in the MCU moving forward.
