Thursday's season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law went full meta with a fun, but divisive episode that attempted to subvert/call-out a lot of the usual superhero tropes while leaning into a few others in the process - including the now almost obligatory surprise cameo.
Following Jen Walters' (Tatiana Maslany) little fourth-wall-breaking meeting with K.E.V.I.N. (more on that here), the predictable action-heavy conclusion was switched-out for a family gathering, and the Incredible Hulk (Marl Ruffalo) dropped by with an unexpected guest: his son, Skaar.
It wasn't much of a debut, truth be told, but Marvel Comics fans will likely have a pretty good idea what this character's introduction means and what implications it could have for the MCU moving forward.
While speaking to Variety, the show's head writer Jessica Gao was asked about Skaar's brief appearance.
"From the beginning, we often talked about if there would there be a cameo at the end or, in typical Marvel fashion, would we tease a new character at the very end. A big cameo would be completely dependent on who was available and who was willing to do it, and you can’t really bank on that at the script stage. We talked a lot about what character we could tease. Ultimately, it was Kevin who decided it should be Skaar. His look is all Kevin Feige."
His look was certainly... interesting! Skaar didn't really resemble his comic book counterpart, but there's a chance he will undergo a slight design change before his MCU return - assuming there are plans in place to utilize the character again?
"Kevin was very specific about Skaar," added Gao. "So I’m sure there’s some plan in the future, though I have no idea what that might be."
