The Incredible Hulk wasn't as critically or commercially successful as Iron Man back in 2008, and those creative issues with star Ed Norton resulted in the movie become something of a black sheep in the Marvel Studios family. However, with She-Hulk coming to Disney+ this year, now might be a good time to go back and revisit the Jade Giant's MCU debut.
Tim Roth's Abomination made a cameo appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and is set to show up in the aforementioned Disney+ series. When Uproxx caught up with the actor, they asked about his unexpected return and what led to that becoming a reality.
"Well, honestly, it totally surprised me," he admitted. "I went in to chat with Kevin Feige and he said, 'I’ve got an idea. Come in.' Really? Really? Because the original thing that I did, when I did that first Incredible Hulk movie, was I just did it for my kids. In a way, it was pre-Iron Man."
"I was amazed when they came back around and said, 'How would you feel about...' And I went, 'Yeah. All right!' And we just shot it, I guess in the summer last year or whatever," Roth continued. "I think that they’re in post now doing it, so whenever. Bonus, I got to work with Mark Ruffalo. Awesome. Who I love. And I don’t know if I’m allowed to say. Oh, I can say that. But this extraordinary woman, Tatiana [Maslany]."
"Incredible, that woman," the actor added. "So that was a blast. It was insane."
It sounds like fans of Abomination are in for a treat with She-Hulk, and Roth seemed to enjoyed his experience working on the series. We don't know what his role in the show will look like or how many episodes he's set to appear in, but the actor clearly got to spend time with both of the MCU's Hulks.
She-Hulk is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
