Marvel's THE PUNISHER Showrunner Steve Lightfoot Comments On The Possibility Of A Second Season
With Season 1 of Marvel's The Punisher out on Netflix, showrunner Steve Lightfoot is already being asked if there will be a second run. He's open to the idea, and excited, but so far hasn't heard anything.
Marvel's The Punisher premiered on Netflix on Friday, but fans who have already plowed through the 13-episode season want to know what's next for the gun-toting vigilante.
Showrunner Steve Lightfoot was recently asked by Entertainment Weekly if he's heard anything about a potential second season for The Punisher.
"No, I genuinely don’t know how the Netflix system works with making those calls, and I assume once they do [make a call] they’ll tell Marvel and Marvel will tell me and we’ll jump back to it," Lightfood said. "But I’m very excited to do so. I think we left both Frank and Billy in places where there are so many ways to jump off from if that second season comes. We can do anything with them, in truth."
The Punisher has received a generally favorable response from critics, currently sitting at a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. That's actually lower than Luke Cage (95%), Jessica Jones (92%), and Daredevil (86%), but it's well ahead of Iron Fist (17%), which is getting a second season despite being the only "rotten" series in the Marvel/Netflix partnership. So if Iron Fist can get a sophomore season, it's likely this won't be the last we see of Frank Castle on Netflix.
