Jon Bernthal surprised fans at Comic-Con yesterday when he appeared at the Luke Cage panel to act as "security" for Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. The actor then went on to discuss his love for Daredevil character Frank Castle and his excitement to star in The Punisher somewhere down the line.

Asked by Loeb about what The Punisher means to him, he added: "I've said it before; I know how much [The Punisher] means to you guys. I take that with me every day and I know how much this character matters. I know how much he means to members of the military, law enforcement and I take it as an enormous responsibility and enormous honour and I'm eternally grateful."

The full video can be found below along with highlights from the Luke Cage panel. Don't forget to check out the awesome first teaser trailer for that series by clicking here and The Defenders right here.

@CaptDeadpool - He's actually doing that wrong. Too much swinging, which tells me he's doing too many reps. But, still jacked, so I guess whatever.

Bernthal's great. I've enjoyed every role I've seen him in and Walking Dead went downhill after he died.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know what time the MCU and DCEU panels start tomorrow?

@scapegoatjones - Yeah same. So far in every other role he's always been shane to me. DD2 was different. He is the punisher.

@kakinurmawth - although he mentioned in an interview that we haven't really seen the Punisher yet, and that he was playing Frank in S2. gonna be [frick]ing nuts when all that madness goes down.

The first thing I ever saw Jon Bernthal in was The Class, which was a short-lived sitcom somewhat similar to Friends. So it's hard picturing him in such dark roles even though he's very good.

Dude [frick]ing killed it as the Punisher. I couldn't get enough of him in DD2. Totally stole the show. Every scene with him was so damn intense. Huge presence in that show.

@kakinurmawth - Yea I agree 💯%... At first I didn't love berthnal the idea of him as castle, but than I watched it, and that futha mucka absolutely owned his role.. Hands down the best version.. And throughout the show he just got better and better, by about the 6th episode I said to myself he will no doubt get his own series.. And than I thought he should get his own movie, but I think everyone's better off this way, I'll take 12 or 13 episodes of this, over a 2 hour movie.. And I gotta think that if avengers infinity wars are gonna have 60 plus characters that he'll be included for sure, along with the other "defenders" as well..
