Though nothing has been confirmed, it seems highly likely that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) will return to the MCU at some point, and we'd be surprised if the powerful magic-wielder didn't factor into Marvel's plans for Avengers: Secret Wars.
For the time being, however, we - along with every other character in the MCU - are supposed to believe that the Scarlet Witch died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when she brought a mountain down on herself.
Wanda is mentioned several times in the first two episodes of VisionQuest, but there is a more subtle nod to the character that many seem to have missed.
Though it's difficult to make out, when Vision's code flashes on screen, the jumbled letters and numbers appear to spell out WANDA.CREATE.
Could this indicate that Vision is planning to create a new version of his lost love in much the same way the real Scarlet Witch conjured a new family in Westview? That seems unlikely, but if nothing else, it's yet another sign that this Vision "replica" is grieving - even if he refuses to admit it to himself.
The alias Vision chooses for his life in Edinburgh, Sherwood Ellis, is even a combination of the street Wanda and Vision lived in (Sherwood Drive, New Jersey) and the last street bordering Wanda's hex in Westview (Ells Avenue).
Paul Bettany was asked if he thinks he will ever act alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda and Vision again in a recent interview: "I don’t think that Vision exists without Wanda."
"When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate.
As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
VisionQuest also stars Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff/Speed and Thomas Shepherd, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, Lauren Morais as Lisa Molinari, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Diane Morgan as an associate of Paladin, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S. Faran Tahir also reprises his Iron Man role as Raza, with Cristian Lavin and Mary McDonnell appearing in undisclosed roles.
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
