Andor is currently shooting in London (you can check out some recent set photos here), and Deadline reports that His Dark Materials and Chernobyl actor Robert Emms has now joined the cast. No details on his role were shared, but he is said to be playing a key supporting character.
The upcoming Disney+ series will run for 12 episodes and explore the origins of late Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spy Cassian Andor, who will once again be played by Diego Luna. His trusty droid sidekick K-2SO is not expected to appear, but voice actor Alan Tudyk did hint that the character might show up in a potential second season.
Emms has also appeared in the likes of Atlantis, Happy Valley, Cleaning Up, War Horse, Apostasy and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Andor will follow the adventures of Rebel fighter Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One. The rousing spy thriller will "explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."
Toby Haynes (Black Mirror) will helm the show, stepping in to replace original director Tony Gilroy, who was reportedly forced to drop out due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions. The Americans producer Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner on the series, which will also feature Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kyle Soller in undisclosed roles.
Andor is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
