OBI-WAN KENOBI Disney+ Series Finds A New Writer In KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD Scribe Joby Harold

Variety is reporting that Disney and Lucasfilm have enlisted English screenwriter/producer Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the SwordArmy of the Dead) to pen their upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, which will see Ewan McGregor (Doctor SleepBirds of Prey) reprise his role as the fan-favorite Jedi Knight.

The Mandalorian director Deborah Chow is set to direct the eagerly awaited series, which will consist of six hour-long installments.

Plot details are under wraps, but prior to the writer change, the series was reportedly treading in the same direction as The Mandalorian, with Obi-Wan watching over a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.

Production was initially set to begin this August, but was later moved to January 2021, in an effort to allow the creative team more time to actually write the episodes. However, with numerous other productions currently delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, it remains to be seen whether Obi-Wan Kenobi will be able to begin filming on time or if its shooting dates will be pushed back even further.

Harold most recently penned Zack Snyder's upcoming zombie/horror Netflix movie, Army of the Dead, and his writing credits also include Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the 2007 Jessica Alba/Hayden Christensen conspiracy thriller Awake, which he also directed.

In addition to the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Harold is also working on the next installment in Paramount's Transformers franchise, which is thought to be a Bumblebee sequel.

Harold has also served as producer on Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow, Sophie Goodhart's My Blind Brother, the WGN America period drama Underground and on Keanu Reeves' John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.
