OBI-WAN KENOBI Has Started Shooting In Los Angeles; Check Out The First Set Photos From The Series

There's a lot of excitement surrounding the Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+, which is no great surprise when it feels like we've been waiting to see this story told forever. Originally planned as a movie, the show has been through a few different creative teams, but will now be helmed by The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow.

Thanks to Kessel Run Transmissions' Noah Outlaw, we now know that cameras have started rolling on the series. These shots don't reveal much, but we do get to see a little bit of Tatooine and a familiar creature in the form of a Bantha. While the iconic desert planet is bound to be the primary setting for Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's possible the Jedi Master will head off-world at some point as well.

"The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat," reads the Obi-Wan Kenobi synopsis, "the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."

The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. We don't know when exactly Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+, but 2022 is likely.

So they're shooting some scenes in the open and not on their stage. Neat

@Waddles - same, I figured they'd make full use of this tech.
But maybe there's some practicality they don't want to give up

@Waddles - very likely, might be a lot more comfortable to build Mos Eisly whole instead of replicating it digitally?
Regardless, I'm a massive fan of the Volume and digital production in general. I want one in my home studio *cries in poor*

So Darth Vader and Uncle Owen are returning. Could we see a young Luke Skywalker as a boy in the series. I say this as Joel Edgerton is on the cast list and he played Uncle Owen in the prequel films.

@gordonh7 - we will likely see a young Luke, after all Owen appears for sure

I want a nude Ewan scene from behind or I’m giving this series
No more than 2 stars.

Hoping for the best on this one. Ewan McGreggor deserves a property that does Obi-Wan justice. He was the best part of the prequels.

Just wish they hadn’t made it Vader focused as that story is already told and played out.

Still with Deborah Chow from Mandalorian on this, I have more confidence.

I'm fearing this will end up washing off the original tension between vader and obi-wan if they meet here.

Hope I'm wrong.
