OBI-WAN KENOBI Star Hayden Christensen Expresses Disappointment In Racist Fans Attacking Moses Ingram

For whatever reason, many Star Wars "fans" have decided to target Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram since the show's launch on Disney+. This has led to the actor receiving a great deal of racist abuse online, prompting both Lucasfilm and Ewan McGregor to condemn those who have decided to express their apparent dislike for her character, Reva, through such heinous means,

Talking to Entertainment Tonight (via SFFGazette.com) about his return as Darth Vader, Hayden Christensen similarly shared his disdain for those who have targeted Ingram based on her race.

"I’ve heard a little bit about that and, obviously, it really saddens me," the actor explained. "I think the world of Moses. She’s not only a lovely person and human being, but an incredibly talented actress."

"The first time I saw the first couple of episodes, I was blown away by her performance and just thought that the subtleties and nuances that she brought to this character were there and really impressive. So, I mean, I hope by the end of the series, people are coming around."

"I think she’s done a great job and I think [Reva] is an important character and people will come to realize that," Christensen concluded, no stranger himself to being the target of harassment from those who take their dislike of a fictional character a step too far.

Reva has proven herself to be a very important part of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and with only two episodes left, we're expecting her to continue to play a crucial role in the series. There's clearly more to the Sith Inquisitor than meets the eye, anyway, and Ingram's part in this Galaxy Far, Far Away is just something those racist "fans" will have to deal with.

Take a new look at Reva in the latest round of Obi-Wan Kenobi stills below:

She was amazing in Tragedy of Macbeth and can obviously act, but I think this is one of those absolutely miscast w/ a blend of just awful writing situation.

None of that makes her deserving of the vitriol she has endured.

@GhostDog - Which is the better D+show? Obi-Wan or Moon knight?

Outside of criticizing performances, leave actors out of rants on mediocre shows.

Really of Disney Star Wars live action characters, Finn had the most potential to be interesting and it was completely wasted

Got to say while technically disney era is more diverse, the few non white characters in the lucas era were much better written

Jango Fett, Mace Windu, Lando, all loved

@dracula - funny how that works isn't it

@dracula - Jango Fett and Mace Windu are one-note non-characters who are generically badass with no deeper characterization, at least in the movies. Bringing them up as examples of how to write POC characters "correctly" is not sending the message you think it is.

@dracula - Carl Weather's in The Mandalorion as well.

I don't think anyone disliked that casting with racist comments.

@TUD - Jango is a bounty hunter smart enough to use a middleman for a high profile hit, is more than willing to kill said middleman to retain anonymity, is badass enough to fight a Jedi 1v1, and has a genuine love for his son. The fact that the only payment he wanted for being the clone army template was an unaltered clone to be his son adds more depth to him than anyone in the sequel trilogy had.

Mace is way flatter but still has his moments. He’s a stern hardass who is still wholly naive to the Jedi’s failings. He refuses to believe that Count Dooku could have turned to the Dark Side, and doesn’t seem to realize how conflicted Anakin would be about killing Palpatine. But when shit hits the fan, that naivety goes away and he’s first in line to get shit done, such as leading the Jedi on Geonosis or heading Palpatine’s arrest.

They’re both pretty simple and stoic, but they’re far more interesting than anything Disney’s offered.

@comiccow6 - Both of those analyses are big stretches and you still admitted at the end of the day that Mace is a one-note "badass". In terms of sheer volume, not even quality, but volume of characterization, neither character has much going on as Finn in Force Awakens alone. I'd rather not cynically assume this is a race thing, but you just seem to value different things in your characters than I do. No accounting for taste, I see.
