The social media embargo has lifted for Andor, and while the response thus far has been extremely positive, it sounds like Star Wars fans should brace themselves for a slow start. Read on for details!

Despite the premiere being less than a week away, it really doesn't feel like there's been all that much buzz for Andor. We're not sure why that is, but perhaps it will change following these glowing social media reactions? (first shared on SFFGazette.com)

Quite a few critics got to watch the first four episodes back in July (before the premiere date shifted from August to September), and they've finally been allowed to share some initial thoughts. As you can see below, the response is overwhelmingly positive for the most part, even though the consensus does appear to be that Andor takes some time to really get going.

Whether casual Star Wars fans will have the patience to watch three episodes in one sitting when it sounds like the first couple don't have much of a hook is hard to say. Regardless, we're definitely pleased to see this is another Disney+ series that has the potential to live up to expectations.

Below, you'll find a variety of verdicts, including some from the ComicBookMovie.com team. The review embargo lifts on September 20, so you'll want to keep an eye on SFFGazette.com around 9am PT/12pm ET.

Andor, a spy thriller from Lucasfilm filmed over two 12-episode seasons, takes place five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The era is filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

The show presents Star Wars from a different perspective, focusing on everyday people whose lives are affected by the Empire. The decisions they make have real consequences, and the stakes for them - and the Galaxy - couldn’t be higher.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.

Andor premieres on Disney+ with its first three episodes on September 21.

Sounds like me in the bedroom. Been working so far thought, so I’m on board. Always have to watch out for that “penultimate content dump” though. Eeeeewwww.

I think the "Lucas Gap" period may be my least favorite era of Star Wars. Rebels and Fallen Order were interesting to me because they had the one aspect of that period I actually do love: scrabbling hard-luck Jedi survivors.

I'm still hoping for the best because Luna is great (and I just generally want things to be good).

Speaking of hard-luck Jedi survivors, Reva in Kenobi was so close to being a great story. I was thinking about why it didn't quite land for me in the show, and it all came down to the final confrontation with Vader. Her betrayal and attack just wasn't strongly executed. If I may...

Reva and Kenobi conspiring to lure Vader into a trap is great, but it needs to be a good trap. Vader needed to get blown up in the tunnel, and really wrecked by it. Emergency evac up to his ship, with Reva following close behind. Reva watches Vader getting his armor peeled off, the fresh wounds and old scars weaving together into this monstrous quilt of agony. Because Vader is unconscious, Reva is able to see what no one else (save medical droids and doctors) has ever seen: Lord Vader vulnerable.

He gets lowered into the bacta. The doctors leave, not realizing Reva's true intentions. She's alone with him. She ignites her lightsaber and approaches the tank. Tears in her eyes, she readies the strike, the blade pierces through the tank, and Vader's eyes open. There is no anger in them, just the merest awareness, but it's enough. The blade stops, hissing bacta boiling inches from Vader's heart.

Suddenly, savagely, she's thrown against the far bulkhead, crushed by an unseen force. Her armor crushes into her, blood spills from her mouth. She drops the lightsaber and the force relents. And she runs to the nearest escape pod, fear and regret consume her. Even at his weakest and her strongest, Vader was unstoppable.

(And then you can do anything you want with the character. What the show did was... okay, but I think we really needed more time with her and all of the oxygen went to Kenobi and Leia. A Reva solo series that developed her more in the lead-up to her confrontation of Vader could have been really strong, I think, but I don't think you can backfill it.)

Basically, it's Mind Quad, but unironically.

@Spock0Clock -

Dump the Leia story and the series could've spent more time with Reva. It was needlessly doubling-up on the orphan theme.

" But Warn Fans About A Slow Start"

God forbid something from Star Wars actually takes its time developing the story and characters before the pew pews start.

@Spidey91 -

But kind of seriously, the Star Wars text crawl is an incredibly efficient and stylized way to dump a bunch of necessary exposition that no other franchise can get away with. Not every Star Wars thing needs one (Mandalorian does really well with the quiet slow moody intros), but when a piece is looking to capture the Star Wars spirit, a Text Crawl with some Williams-esque fanfare will do it instantly.

@Spock0Clock - Off Topic: I just saw Jon Hamm in his new Fletch movie "Confess, Fletch" and it was fantastic, very funny!

I wish I could get excited for this. What little I've seen from the trailers looks real good, and I wish Luna all the best, but the show just doesn't interest me on a fundamental level. Yeah, it's something vaguely new-ish conceptually, like I want from Star Wars, but Mando is the limit of what I can hyped for in the already explored eras.

And it really doesn't help that the best outcome of this for me is likely just shuffling the main character's position in the 'least interesting characters dying in a movie I don't plan to rewatch' ranking. I couldn't even bring myself to watch a full trailer. Sorry, pass.

Sounds intriguing. Tony Gilroy effect.

With a confirmed 24 episodes, I never expected this show to move at a quick pace. It knows it can take it's time, so it does. So no loss there for me.

Other than that, this show sounds like I wanted it to be. So a win there for me.

I still don't gt the point of this show or why any SW fan should care about it? SW is not a real and gritty drama type story it's a fantasy space opera. I would love if I was interested but I just feel nothing for another prequel of a another prequel that isn't a fantasy story. If I want to watch a real and gritty movie or show then I would watch one of those and not Sci-Fi and fantasy stuff.

You mean Andor doesn't break the fourth wall and smugly smirk at the camera?! BOOOO! 0/10!#CANCELANDOR

In all seriousness my biggest concern for this show is that it's going to be loaded with more boring resistance characters that always talk in low dramatic breathy voices.

"*siiighhhh* we just don't have enough food for the people"

"*sssiiggghhh* we just don't have enough fuel to move these people"

"*siiiigghhhhh* if we dont help these people... *sssiiiiiigghhhhhh* the Empire will kill them"

I'm hoping we see more stuff like we did in Rogue One like Andor killing his informant. We need to see some darkness and flaws in our heroes. It's so boring when they're shown as just morally perfect angels.

Slow start? Probably why they're dropping 3 episodes.
