STAR WARS: ANDOR Finale Nearly Saw Maarva Declare "F*** The Empire!" Before Disney Stepped In

We've never heard an F-bomb in the MCU or Star Wars franchises, but the latter very nearly changed that with what could have been one of the Andor finale's most powerful moments. Read on for details...

Andor proved itself a vastly different type of Star Wars TV series to what we're used to from Lucasfilm, and it's received a lot of praise, as a result.

The show's third episode shocked a lot of people when it featured a character saying "sh*t," a moment that marked the first time a real-life swearword has featured in this Galaxy Far, Far Away. In some respects, that's simply a testament to how grounded and real Andor's take on this franchise is, though the finale almost included an F-bomb!

As you can see in the video below, one eagle-eyed fan has noticed that a clever edit in the finale saw Fiona Shaw's Maarva Andor go from saying, "F*** the Empire!" to "Fight the Empire!" Look closely at the scene and you'll notice her lips don't quite match what she's saying, though a brief glitch in her hologram cleverly disguises it.

Honestly, this would have been an amazing moment, though we're not surprised Lucasfilm decided against it. After all, Andor doesn't have a mature rating and Disney+ isn't exactly known for language like this (at least not in the U.S. where most of its content remains family-friendly).

The theory has since been confirmed courtesy of Dedra Meero actress Denise Gough. Talking to Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com) she said: "Fiona’s voice was over all of us. Except, at the end, she didn’t say, ‘Fight the Empire!’ She said, ‘F*** the Empire!’ Which we were all really excited about. But we weren’t allowed to keep it, obviously."

Even without that line, Maarva's speech remains an incredibly powerful sequence in the Andor finale and one that lit the spark of Rebellion on Ferrix. It also helped stir something in Cassian Andor, cementing his desire to fight back against the Empire as part of Luthen Rael's Rebellion. That's a story we'll now get to see play out in the show when it returns in 2024.

Are you disappointed the Andor finale didn't include the Star Wars franchise's first F-Bomb?
