In 2015, we can all look forward to new Evil Dead stories with Bruce Campbell as Ash. Give me some sugar, baby. A new television series, Ash Vs. Evil Dead, is being led by Campbell and Sam Raimi is headed to Starz. In the past Ash has been a one-man army but for the new series he'll have some supporting characters that should help flesh out Campbell's super-quotable character. "It’s a threesome, which is a good number," Campbell said. "Since it’s not cast yet, it would be silly to fully describe them. But they’re supposed to be two very good counterparts. One is a male-bonding situation; the other is father-figure deal, since Ash could have a daughter the same age as this character. Hopefully we’ll pull Ash out of his loner-veteran mode and get him back into being a human being again."

Apparently, the Deadites (evil creatures) always functioned within some sort of rules so that they had their boundaries. Who knew! Those rules will also be applied to the series as well. Campbell added, "We’re going along the lines of every so often, the Evil rises to test the average man to see if man is ready to rule the earth, or if the living dead have to come back."

Sam Raimi ("Oz The Great and Powerful"), the director of the first three film in the franchise, is on board to direct the pilot. "And any other incoming directors would be apprenticing under his style and method," Campbell explained.

Campbell reprises his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip. - THR

I guess this means we won't be getting the previously announced Army Of Darkness 2. Oh well, at least we are getting a promising new TV show. If they make another movie, I hope it's Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. A lot of people want a sequel to the reboot, but I'm one of the few who didn't like it. It wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be (to be fair, it is really hard for a movie to scare me) and the characters and story were uninteresting, so give me Bruce Campbell any day of the week.

@ruadh Are they like scary scary? Or a bit cheesy? Because I like cheesy horror films. Don't really like too much scary stuff.

The original trilogy (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and Army Of Darkness) is awesome. The reboot is debatable as a lot of fans liked it, while others did not. The first Evil Dead was a straight up horror film (and a really creepy one), while Evil Dead II and Army Of Darkness were horror comedies. The reboot tried to return the series to it's horror roots but whether or not it succeeded is up for debate.

The upcoming show, Ash Vs Evil Dead takes place in the universe of the first 3 films, not the reboot. Definitely check out the original series when you can. It is also worth mentioning that the main character Ash fought Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees in a popular comic sequel to Freddy V Jason (2003 film). He also fought the Marvel Zombies in the comic Marvel Zombies Vs Army of Darkness.

@V8ER
They are all a little cheesy but the original is actually really disturbing. Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness were intentionally cheesy as they were horror comedies. The 2013 reboot tried to be scary but failed IMO.

@V8er, yeah, as he said, they are mostly silly. The original is low budget horror at its finest, but Raimi can't help but be silly now and then. The second is basically a three stooges movie with possessed people and chainsaw hands, with the third being a continuation of that.

Evil Dead 2 is the best in the series, with the horror vibe of the first, but the comedic element of the third. They're all fantastic though.
