More VENOM Set Photos Emerge As Jenny Slate And Scott Haze's Characters Are Seemingly Revealed

We got our first glimpse of Michelle Williams on the set of Venom last night, and now another batch of photos courtesy of Just Jared provide a glimpse of Scott Haze (Child of God) and Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) shooting their scenes.

We can't tell too much from the images, although it does look like Haze's character is about to get an ass whopping from Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy). As for who these guys are actually playing in the Spidey spin-off, the folks over at MCU Exchange may have some answers.

There was speculation that Haze may have been cast as Carnage, but according to this report he's actually playing Roland Treece, the founder of Treece International and a member of the Life Foundation’s Board of Directors. Slate, meanwhile, seems to be a new character created for the film; a Life Foundation scientist named Dora Skirth - though there's always a chance she could be an amalgamation of some established Marvel Comics characters, including Dr. Ashley Kafka.

We'll have to consider all of this rumor for the time being, but it does make sense when you take into account that Venom will at least loosely adapt the Lethal Protector comic arc.

Too much about this movie intrigues me in ways no other recent CBM has, for the right reasons as well as for the wrong reasons.

- It follows an anti-hero/villain character
- Most likely NOT a part of the greater MCU
- by extension, Spider-Man is highly unlikely to appear or exist
- No real clue as to how this film plays out
- Interesting casting choices

I'm getting vague Suicide Squad vibes from this movie, only it's not trying to connect with a larger cinematic universe... that we know of. I wonder if this film could be the "bad guys are the protagonists" CBM film that we wanted Suicide Squad to be? Hm.

This movie feels like it would fit in well with the Netflix MCU series - more of a grounded street level drama, rather than a fantastical heightened-reality actioner. We shall see though...
