First shown at SDCC this year, "Truth In Journalism" has made its way online.

A little over a year ago, Thomas Jane and friends shocked Comic-Con by premiering a very cool short film based on The Punisher titled Dirty Laundry. Directed by Phil Joanou, scripted by Chad St. John, and produced by Adi Shankar, the short was a slow burn that eventually erupted into bloody and brutal violence. [Today], producer Adi Shankar is releasing his next short film titled Truth in Journalism, and it stars Ryan Kwanten (Griff the Invisible). Written and directed by Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn II, Knights of Badassdom), the film is sure to excite comic book fans.

"The great part of my job is that I get to be an 'administrator of truth.' Crime occurs every 13 seconds in this city. You know we have these statistics? Because guys like me are out on the streets, collecting these stories. We put the caution in cautionary tale, y'know? And being aware the crime out there, the people of this city can live their lives accordingly. In fact, I'm the one doing this city a public service. We're the heroes out there...."

hmmm ... he's holding police badge in his hand. A nod to Toxin perhaps ?

i could see Ryan (Eddie) hunting one of Carnage's son (Toxin).
Trying to whipe out all their legacy. In the name of his twisted sense of justice, of course.

when is this coming out ?
jerryblake
jerryblake - 7/31/2013, 12:51 AM
or maybe Ryan is playing Kasady ? Lying about him being a journalist, just to get close to Toxin.

Guess the time will tell.

Its suppose to come out today. And it takes place in the 80s around when Venom appeared in the comics. Its suppose to fit in with that comic issue. (something about when he goes to attack Aunt May)

Instead of sinking millions into a feature film that could go wrong, why don't studios do this sort of thing with all their new adaptations? Then they can test an actor in the role before commiting to a giant project. Like a movie pilot.

That sounds interesting AaronianKenrod

@Aaorian

funny you mention that. I heard they did Beverly Hills Cop pilot for some tv station not so while ago. It seems like Eddie Murphy still got it and now they moving with 4th part of the series.

The Beverly Hills Cop pilot was about Eddie's character's son (the new lead character)... I don't even think Eddie is apart of that project.

like the punisher short, i thought this was done nicely. also liked the cameo by Bullseye. saw some daily bugel stuff but really nothing about spiderman.

they should do more of these for some of the obscure characters to introduce them into the marvel CU.

Love this kind of take. They did a good job. But obviously Venom's Head/face could have turned out differently I understand the difficulties and the budget lol.

But I loved the 80's setting and how it was sort of a American Psychoed out lol.

Bullseye at the end was the best part.

If it wasn't for the weird accent I'd definitely consider RK as a potential big screen Eddie Brock

This is what I thought Marvel one shots was gonna be used for some times , to introduce or show other characters . So far it's only been coulson , agent carter (heard its awesome) and the item 47 right? When they did ant-man I thought that would have been released as a marvel one-shot . With this marvel can introduce other characters to see how they do or see what can be made . And show them off infrint of movies like cap 2 Thor 2 iron man 3 . But they haven't done it . I hope they do a marvel one shot of dare devil or punisher now that they have the rights

The venom needs a spider on chest and back and white on top of hands . This actor would be good for Eddie Brock in the amazing spidey 3

I agree druzod the accent was the only part about this that was a little off. This and the punisher one were funkin awesome! Who would have thunk Jason Stackhouse could do such a good Brock. Way better than Erik Forman. haha

I don't know how big of a French Film buff anyone here is,
but this is totally an homage to the movie MAN BITES DOG. Which I LOVE! It's in black & white, and is about a film crew that follows a serial killer/hitman on his random crime spree. The fact that the film crew was French in this, made it so much more enjoyable
This is a cool one shot 'cause it's referential on a bunch of levels.
(The American Psycho thing)
Would like to see more from Ryan Kwanten as Brock. He emotes that kind of manic unstableness and inferiority complex I've associated with the character.

But yes I agree. The White Emblem would've made it alot cooler. but hey,
low budgets. You just can't cough out money.
