Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage writer Kelly Marcel will step behind the camera to direct Venom 3, putting the Marvel franchise in the hands of the woman who has been instrumental in shaping it from the start.
Depending on how you feel about these movies, that's either very good or very bad news, but we're definitely intrigued to find out how this trilogy will end.
During a recent interview with Variety about Ted Lasso season 3, Juno Temple was asked about her role in the threequel. Unsurprisingly, she couldn't share any specifics, but did reveal that shooting is scheduled to start "very, very soon, which I’m thrilled about."
However, the big news here is confirmation from the trade that Sony Pictures has tentatively scheduled Venom 3 for release in October 2024. The studio has yet to comment, but this was to be expected given when production is starting and the dates previous instalments were released.
This means 2024 will see Madame Web, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and Venom 3 all swing into theaters. As for El Muerto, there are already rumblings the movie has been scrapped.
Very little has been revealed about what we can expect from the Venom: Let There Be Carnage follow-up. That movie ended with Cletus Kasady's demise but set the stage for Toxin to target Eddie Brock. However, there's been no word about Stephen Graham possibly reprising his role as Detective Patrick Mulligan.
Temple has nabbed a lead role, though, as has Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Chiwetel Ejiofor. Rumours persist that Loki's Owen Wilson will reprise his role as Mobius M. Mobius, but we've since learned he passed on the character who Ejiofor is playing.
Tom Hardy returns as Eddie in Venom 3 but also co-wrote the story with Marcel before she penned the screenplay.
Venom 3 is expected to be released in theaters sometime in 2024.
