VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Critic Reactions Promises A "Wild-Ass Movie Of The Highest Order"

A select number of critics have finally been allowed to share their reactions to Venom: Let There Be Carnage on social media, and it sounds like we're definitely in for a treat with Andy Serkis' sequel...

We've seen what fans thought of Venom: Let There Be Carnage (they loved it), but critics are now finally starting to weigh in. These reactions do tend to be indicative of the reviews, so if what we see below is anything to go by, they'll be far more positive than they were for Ruben Fleischer's Venom back in 2018.

It sounds like new director Andy Serkis has nailed the tone of the Marvel Comics sequel, while Tom Hardy appears to have found his groove with Eddie Brock. His previous performance was certainly unique, but it felt a lot like he was throwing everything at the wall - including jumping into a lobster tank - to see what would stick. Now, though, he's seemingly made Venom his own.

That short runtime does appear to be something of a detriment to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, with not enough room for all the sequel's ideas to be fully explored. Beyond that, it's hard to say whether this movie will convert fans who weren't on board with Venom, but it still appears to be a major upgrade.

With 357 reviews, Venom has a lowly 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, so we're intrigued to see how this follow-up compares. Either way, it'll be worth keeping an eye on those box office numbers.

Check out the first reactions below, and check back here on Thursday at 6am PT for our review!

@JoshWilding - well it actually is crazy, also doesn't make a real critic.

@RegularPoochie - Eh, get back to me when you've been quoted in TV spots, had your name on Blu-rays, and been put through RT's vetting process. Maybe then I'll take your word on what makes a critic. 😅

@JoshWilding - well Josh, your review is interesting, because when the second movie is what the first one should’ve been, as with ninja turtles, Addams family, tomb raider, and suicide squad, it’s usually too late box office wise. Of course pandemic reasoning applies here, ain’t nobody expecting the 800’s again, but something tells me… this movie ain’t goin down like TSS. I say that because of female FB friends. They’re super excited.

@TheWalkingCuban - Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, alright. I think this could have cracked $1 billion in normal times (with a better marketing campaign), but as someone who despised that first movie, it sucks seeing people rag on this one without even seeing it as this sequel isn't one to miss IMHO. I agree it should do way better than TSS, though, and I can see it surprising people.

@JoshWilding - as previously discussed to death, TSS had a lot going against it. This is a nerdy outlet tho so I don’t expect the consensus here to accurately reflect the general population. This movie may indeed top Shang Chi, which surely would be topped by Spider-Man NWH, but anyway that result would validate it even more in Sony’s eyes, further emboldening their universe plans.

But if it lands between Black Widow and Shang Chi, that’s no L. One things for sure, the comments are about to be even more fun.

@Waddles - Haha, yeah, I've never had an issue with anything I've seen from you or 99.9% of the people who take the time to comment here. A few ribs (or criticisms I can take on board to improve what I do) are always welcome. Some people just want to shit over anything and everything, though, and it's tiresome (man, what a crime I committed today - putting my reaction first in an article I wrote on the site I've spent 12 years contributing to 😂).

Lol, these reactions have "green splat on RT" vibes. Not surprised.

We aren't even getting the film in NZ until late November, but the comments on these articles over the next few weeks will be entertaining enough.
