Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrived on Digital platforms today, and in this deleted scene from the Marvel Comics sequel, we learn that Carnage once had greater ambitions than simply killing Eddie Brock.
The symbiote makes it clear to Cletus Kasady and Shriek that he wants to repopulate the world with symbiote/human hybrids, a pretty twisted concept that Frances Barrison definitely isn't 100% on board with. Given the movie's scant 90-minute runtime, it's hard to say how much this subplot was originally going to factor into the story, but it might have been fun to watch play out.
Ultimately, a simpler approach was taken and Venom: Let There Be Carnage didn't suffer too much for it. Spending a little more time with Carnage no doubt would have been welcomed by fans, though the villain's relatively limited screentime (where he was mostly showcased in action scenes) didn't stop the Venom sequel from earning generally favourable reviews or over $400 million worldwide!
"Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the ultimate Marvel movie; seeing Venom and Carnage clash is a comic book fan’s dream come true," we said in our review earlier this year, "but the epic action is bolstered by incredible visuals, some big laughs, and a surprising amount of heart."
